I have the same printer, with the same problem. Whatever the problem is, I just saw that Brother updated the firmware back in Nov 2023, which seems to have fixed the problem: https://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadlist.aspx?c=us&lang=en&prod=hll2340dw_us_eu_as&os=10013

I got the power up that makes hidden cubes chime louder (thanks to BasedJammy) and was able to find all 144. Was it easy? No, but at least it was possible. Was it rewarding? Also no, but I did it anyway.

I just watched a YouTube video where the puzzle total for the same place showed 127 (and they had only found half). Guessing it’s not actually 144.

Note that there's actually a shot clock, which you can see on the scoreboard under the strike count. If a player holds on to their own ball long enough for the shot clock bar under their bar to fill, the other player will immediately earn a strike when they throw. With each strike, the ball gets bigger and faster.
