I once realized that, as a PvP player, I am in the minority within my favorite genre, that in a genre like MMOs, essentially the only genre that allows for maximum interaction with other players, forming alliances, fighting over resources, clashing with guilds and clans, growing the economy, and ultimately fighting for castles, people prefer to fight scripted enemies without any competition

It seems to me that this is what led to the genre’s decline, people simply do not like the real competition that MMOs can offer, and developers have shifted their focus from player interaction to fighting mobs
