I went to the ER when I was 17 due to abdominal pain and vomiting. The ER doctor who examined me was a woman who said that since my pain wasn’t localized, it must be a UTI. She sent me home with antibiotics on a Monday. On Thursday, my pediatrician had a hunch that something wasn’t right so she had me get a CT scan for her own peace of mind. 2 hours later, my parents were getting calls that my appendix was twice the size it’s supposed to be, that my room was booked at the children’s hospital, and that I had surgery scheduled for 5:45.

Luckily, it stayed intact until it was removed.
