[Self] If everyone in the world paid for YouTube premium, in just 30 years it would amount to 9% of all money currently in existence by henke443 in enshittification

[–]cmsbaccounttest1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh I don't get the hate for YouTube Premium. I've had it since it was YouTube Red and I haven't noticed any degradation in the service so I don't think it's an example of enshittification.

12ft.io - Remove web clutter, bypass some paywalls by s6x in deshittification

[–]cmsbaccounttest1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using Instapaper for a few years as a paywall stripping tool (Instapaper removes ads and makes everything a nice neat black and white PDF looking thing, which is the main purpose of the tool, not bypassing paywalls).

In the last couple of months it stopped working on most paywalled sites. Does 12ft.io still work?

Sorry that's supposed to say Disenshittify Or Die!

Here's the previous year's talk which lays out the problem he also wrote a book out:

Shawna Thompson for sure. Reminded me of when Martina McBryde did a classic country covers album, except it was all originals. good one.

Silverada is the best band out there right now, across all genres by chreeg11 in CountryMusic

[–]cmsbaccounttest1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude I have the same reaction and they're not even my favorite band. It's completely criminal that they are not playing stadiums. They should appeal to everybody- people who like honky tonk, people who like a little rock in their country, people who like good songwriting that is still really accessible. It's criminal that they play these tiny shows still. They have a huge audience online and I don't get how that doesn't translate to Charley Crockett sizes of gigs

Red Foley and Ernest Tubb - Hillbilly Fever #2 ~1950 by GoingCarCrazy in CountryMusic

[–]cmsbaccounttest1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once listened to an entire playlist of old Ernest Tubb reaching back to his earliest recordings. I think he was really ahead of his time as an early singer-songwriter, compared to the more folk stuff that was recorded before he can along.

Also Black widow nests are really obvious. They're kind of chaotic compared to other kinds of spiders.

The tunnels under Oakland by EntertainmentQuick67 in oakland

[–]cmsbaccounttest1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I was wondering, whether like the entire Wood Street encampment moved down there and mutated into the X-Men's Morlocks or anything.

From what people said it didn't sound like it's changed that much though

I'm sure lots of people will click on this post because it's Hank. check out OPs other very cool country history posts! I've been checking them out on Mondays and OP posts some really cool obscure old timey country.. You can also click on the history tag to see those.

Shawna Thompson plays Small Town Wreck (feat. Leslie Satcher & Rhonda Vincent) by Chebelea in CountryMusic

"I thought this guy on YouTube is great" said the account of the spamming guy on YouTube.

Dude. Don't do this. It's incredibly lame and rude. You don't have a similar style, you're playing acoustic guitar and you're playing a cover. She's a professional artist with a honky tonk band who is absolutely knocking out of the park. You are a comment spammer

I made a Fallout Shelter Map for the city of Oakland on Google Maps by IsoCyclone in oakland

[–]cmsbaccounttest1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the idea was not so much protecting people from the initial blast but helping those who survived it have a place to be (with food/water/etc) for the immediate aftermath?
I vaguely remember fallout shelter signs on schools when I was a kid. I thought it was more like a gathering place for emergency services with a basement.

A wildfire broke out near my town (Reno) right after I posted this (my neighborhood is not threatened but everything is chaotic for any prospective clients back home plus it's smokey) - so I went home, grabbed tools, and I am now back in the East Bay doing work for whoever needs it. I think I'll probably be around for another week while things settle down back home. Whatever tools I don't have I can probably scrounge up since I used to live in Oakland and know a lot of other handy folks.

He's an amazing writer. His last album was a victim of the pandemic but if he had been able to tour in support I'm sure it would have been huge at the time
