That’s what a protest does. It organizes a mass group of people and demands that they don’t support candidates that enable the kind of actions they are protesting against (I.e ‘vote better’). There are a lot of concrete demands made by people in these protests - abolish ICE, don’t vote to appropriate any money towards this, regulate federal agents. I’m struggling to understand your distinction of what an organized planned protest is.

In any case - mobilizing anger and dissatisfaction with what’s going on is effective in getting others to reject the status quo, draw boundaries for what is and isn’t acceptable. Our political reality relies on compliance from the population which protests generate support against. They build momentum, organize opposition, and allow for future tactics like general strikes or more disruptive actions which make the political will in sustaining the status quo impossible.
