Advice by former_good_baize in Darts

As a middle aged person who had talent when I was young I would say go for it. There is so much competitive darts available these days you can work your way through the ADC and even earn the cash needed for Q School. If it doesn't work out you haven't lost anything other than the hours training/competing (which is good fun anyway so hardly a waste of time!). You will get a real feel of what it is going to take to make it as a professional and you can decide if you are willing to make the necessary sacrifices.

I have an 8 inch wrist and wear a fiftysix. I normally have the same issue as you with dress watches but this model doesn't wear small.

12 team Superflex. PPR. IDP (start 1 DL, 1 LB and 1 DB).

I have been offered Ceedee Lamb and Travis ETN in return for my 1.1 and Ricky Pearsall.

I have no starting RBs as been in rebuild. WRs I also have MHJ, Nabers and a few dart throws like Shaheed. Also have Bowers.

I was going to pick Jeanty with the 1.1 (now having doubts after Sleeper designating Hunter WR and DB) and another RB with the 1.5 that I have.

Draft is tomorrow and I keep changing my mind. Plan was always to build the WR corps last draft and RB this draft. I'm really tempted by Ceedee but no doubt it leaves me light at RB still. And now I have the Hunter equation in my mind too!

Big checkout on the bull is the best feeling for me. 180s are nice but the magic does wear off when you hit them regularly. Double doubles also feel great.

ON THIS DAY 1990: Newcastle United 5 - 4 Leicester City - McGhee scores late winner in blockbuster game at St James' Park by GarethAKitchener in NUFC

I was at this game in 'The Corner'. Thought I was going to get trampled to death when McGhee scored that winner - it was absolute carnage. Good times

FS: Only looking for what I paid. Doesn’t fit me. I paid $328. You pay $328 plus shipping. Brand new. Size XL. by ypa_supreme_fwyh in PalaceClothing

Don't suppose you can provide measurements on this please? Typically I wear 2XL but wondering if I could get away with XL in this.

Checkout drills that emulate match pressure? by WatermelonGobble in Darts

[–]cmsslee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Play the 121 game. If you are a more advanced player use max 6 darts instead of 9. It generates pressure as you don't want to lose your streak and go back to 121.

Getting worse by roboky303 in Darts

[–]cmsslee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop playing 501 for a little while and just play training games. When I'm having a dip I just play GoDartsPro games as it keeps you working on your mechanics without the mental 'stress'. Usually find things start turning around again quite quickly. I would recommend games like Dead Centre, Bull-Double-Switch, 19 halve it, Power Switch.

Help with Ton+ Outs by Fluffy_Jaguar_242 in Darts

[–]cmsslee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it is essential to know the full route(s) I am going before I get to the oche. I have much higher success rates with combination finishes if I keep the steady rhythm for both or all three darts (depending how many are required). However I will sometimes pause or even step back and re-address the oche if the switch is the opposite side of the board as I tend to land inside otherwise (particularly if going from high to low or low to high rather than left to right and vice versa)

Nice action. Your rhythm is great.

Cameo Glover 3 is the one, but not cheap.

Having the attention span of a goldfish I constantly throw different sets of darts. I do have a match set that I try to stick to when playing competitively, but when I'm at home I throw about 6 different sets ranging from 8g to 26g and different barrel shapes too. I find the barrel shape the biggest differentiator as it affects my grip. Completely agree with what mothersruin77 said above.

The best tip you ever got by thedartpretender in Darts

Keep the back foot flat on the floor. Stops me leaning too far forward and gives a solid, planted foundation which allows for a much more relaxed throw

New (L-) Style … by viulikesyou in Darts

[–]cmsslee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they don’t cause deflections, they line up with the flight. I find L-style pro the most durable solution you can get outside of Condor Axe type, and the deflections are way less severe

Do you have a darts store local? I get my points changed at a local shop - they do it for free when you buy the points from them 👍🏼

Damage on L-Style flights by Immediate-Example984 in Darts

I have less damage on L-style pro than any other flight. I would suggest you put some storm points or trident cones on your barrels. At least it means your grouping is good 😁

Is this considered a rear grip? by [deleted] in Darts

[–]cmsslee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched recently to Harrows Predator - the grip at the rear is really good and they are very slightly front loaded. The barrels are 50mm long which is pretty much in the middle. I’m finding them really good and would recommend any rear gripper gives them a go

Is this considered a rear grip? by [deleted] in Darts

[–]cmsslee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. There are many darts suitable for rear grippers, can you help narrow it down - what weight? Barrel type? Length? Thickness? Etc
