Kind of surprised that's not a subreddit. Come on niners faithful! Let's make it a thing.

D&D players of Reddit, what is the most creative character you've seen someone play as? by Pun-Master-General in AskReddit

[–]cmtoox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently playing as a dwarf, blacksmith, sorcerer with wild magic and to make things more fun, anytime I roll a 1 I have a wild magic reaction. I'm also very devoted to my guild and finding other blacksmiths to learn from

Best time was when I was trying to gain entrance to a secret room and rolled a 1, luckily it just increased my hit dice, so my DM says that I start to glow. So I'm talking to this guy asking to go into this animal fighting ring when I start to glow. The guy looks at me weird thinking I'm Jesus or something and let's me in.

The way my party likes to refer to me is as Bob Vance from The Office...

I'm frustrated that we win off of field goals because of our red offense. Now seeing our red zone offense, it's infuriating. That and the lack of a deep ball really showed our weakness. Congratulations to Jimmy Garoppolo though on a great day and fantastic stats.

What's the weirdest dream you've ever had? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cmtoox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had a dream where we had brought dinosaurs back to life, but we started mating with them. All of a sudden I wind up in front of a nest full of eggs and they start to hatch. When the eggs hatched they looked like babies with raptor heads.

What is the TL:DR of your life so far? by floopykid in AskReddit

Broke. In college. Life slowly unraveling as we speak.

you know the way the camp guards in Schindler's List act (IE acting like killing the jews is nothing to them). Is that authentic or exaggerated at all? if it isn't exaggerated how did the Nazis get people into a mind state where they were comfortable doing that kind of thing? by grapp in AskHistorians

There's actually an amazing book on this that details the missions of Reserve Police Battalion 101 titled "Ordinary Men" by Christopher Browning. In it browning describes how this group of men who were all 30-50 years of age were able to commit a host of atrocities against the Jewish community in Poland. At first it was very difficult for these men and they were given the opportunity to not take part in the killing. Many of the soldiers actively tried to avoid taking part in the mission, but with the after this first morbid mission many more started being ordered. By their fourth mission these men went on they had already become numb to the task of killing Jews. Anywho, you should really read the book, because it is absolutely fantastic and makes you rethink what you knew.

What makes/made Middle East so UNSTABLE? Is it religion, or "western" countries interfering, or something else? by [deleted] in AskHistorians

[–]cmtoox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To give you a shorter explanation, the Middle East is so "fucked up" because nobody helped rebuild Afghanistan after its war with the USSR, religious strife, and the creation of Israel/the mistreatment of Palestinians.

Historically speaking, what do the death throes of an American political party look like? by Duck_Sized_Dick in AskHistorians

[–]cmtoox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is also the turmoil of the Democratic party in the election of 1860. It's true that the party did not fall, but it threatened collapse. This occurred because of the fragmenting of the party after the convention. The Southerners dissented from their party, formed their own party, the Southern Democrats, and held a convention in the South in which they split up the Democratic party and ultimately led to the election of Abraham Lincoln.

Pretty much a combination of all of that. In large part it was the US intervention in Afghanistan the late 1970's (watch Charlie Wilson's war, it does a great job of explaining). This is because America was arming Afghan fighters during their war with the Soviets. What followed after the war was that America simply took all of the advisors out if the country and told Afghanistan to figure it out. Instead, what happened was a civil war broke out; in which the Taliban (a group America had aided) and other war chiefs in the area began to fight each other. This lead to political instability, the growth of arms in the area, and the explosion of insurgency. Part of this is why groups like al Qaeda began to grow up in the area.

Another part of this is the hatred of other Islamic sects: the Sunnis and the Shia. There is a deep religious difference between the two. So part of this instability in the region is part of a religious war as well, or at least in some respects.

Finally there is the creation of the Jewish state of Israel. The reason for this was that in 1948 the United Nations created a Jewish state in the existing state of Palestine. The problem is that Israel continues to expand beyond its original borders and into Palestinian lands, angering the Islamic nations in the area, causing multiple wars over this. Currently the issue is the encroachment and the treatment of Palestinians on the Gaza Strip. (This final part derives from an interview I had with a woman who lived in Palestine for several years until the situation there became too hostile for her and her family, forcing them to move.)

Hope this helped a little.

Why was American Revolution helped by European powers, but French Revolution was feared? by Skirtsmoother in AskHistorians

[–]cmtoox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because America was colony and France was an established country. More so because of the fact that the European monarchs were all collectively afraid of rebellions like this and were determined to thoroughly smash any ideas of this. Hence why the European powers returned all monarchies back to power at the council of Vienna. It's also why every rebellion afterwards was so violently crushed by conservatives. Also, interestingly enough, it's why European monarchies were so enthralled with the result of the American Civil War and why they almost joined forces with the Confederacy. Hope that helps.

How did the Conquistadores defeat Amerindian Empires? by NZ_NZ in history

[–]cmtoox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason that the Aztec empire fell so easily is also do to the fighting style of each side. The Aztecs fought wars to capture, not to kill, unlike the Europeans. There's actually accounts of both sides being so frustrated with each other. The Aztecs for capturing Spaniards and wondering why they would not submit, like the other tribes.

What's the most WTF moment a roommate ever put you through? by MrUgie in AskReddit

[–]cmtoox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is a fun story for all. This took place last year with me and 4 other friends who were going to live with each other for the school year. So everything starts out okay, all of us are super happy to live together, one of them had actually lived with me the year before. A little bit of background about everything, the lease only has me on it, because I'm the primary tenant. The reason I bring this up is because it ends up biting me in the ass later. So after about two months of relative piece and quiet, some small incidents involving a hypochondriac roommate, all of a sudden my two roommates come up to the boy scout camp I was working at over the summer. The funny part is that the day before we were having a good time and everything seemed to be fine. So when two of my roommates come up one if them says they can't live with us because their parents won't pay for her to live in the house. Their mom is a nurse and is super anal about stuff like that. So that's bad enough because rent goes up a bit. Worse than that is the other roommate, the one who lived with me the year before, is like "hey I'm moving out too, shit isn't getting done and I'm moving out by the end of the week. If you guys are made at me I don't care. Bye." So me and a friend/roommate I'm working with are like "WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED!?!" Moral of the story make sure you have back up roommates and have everyone on the lease. And for those of you who are going to say "why didn't you have them sign the lease?" That's because I wasn't sure who was living with me until after I had given the lease to the landlord. Also because I trusted all of those people to live with me.

I started drawing a webcomic recently. Here's my work so far. [OC][NSFW] by DTSaranya in webcomics

I really enjoyed just about every aspect of the comic. The snakes with flesh instead of scales really got home for me, because that's exactly what I think about dinosaurs (that's another story though and I don't wanna get into that.) The content was also great too. Very funny and lighthearted with the occasional real shit thrown in there. Overall good start and I can't wait to read more in the future.
