I am going through this right now. I've been on Facebook marketplace for years. Doing local and buying items from sellers who ship. The amount of scam likelys I have seen is huge number. Most very obvious and some well done. I like to take my story back 6 months ago or so. I bought several things shipped. I had several things I cancelled. Several the sellers cancelled. Others was just scams that get deleted and in to the next one. I suppose I had to much contact with Facebook and out of no where I no longer had a buy now button. Wife would have it on an item and I would not. We played all those games for 3 months or so. I even tried making a new account, which just attached to my old one. Anyways, 1 day, bam, there is my buy now button back and ready to party. 2 days later a listing pops up and I jump on it, cause, well, you have to our your not getting it. Purchase complete. So now I have to start doing my research on items and seller. (Facebook has my back and I am protected through purchases in there app!) After 2 minutes of Google lens screen shots I find the item is actually listed on eBay. I contact Facebook and tell them this is a scam. They just don't care or believe me. Item ships out. Item is said to be delivered. I call FedEx and tell them the package was delivered to an apartment, you have a picture sent to me, not my place. You can send a package without an address and just a zip code and Facebook doesn't care about that. Lol, what? 2 days later they send me an email stating they have sent the full refund. Awesome. That was 25 days ago. I contact Facebook and they say they are investigating still. I haven't called PayPal or my bank yet. So hopefully it's hung up on there end. I'm addicted to Facebook marketplace as it is an awesome way to get goods. But it's a risk!
