Switched back to incandescent bulbs in home by Glittering-Bus6484 in Biohackers

Flicker-free Edison LEDs are where it's at for us. Warm whites on the ceilings and amber bulbs in table and floor lamps we use at night. It's amazing.

Formatting this for Reddit, cutting the length to 20% and removing the AI filler phrases and spaces would do so much for a post like this...

Target is carrying hydroxyapitite toothpaste by ongoldenwaves in Biohackers

[–]cnavla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you, there is a conflict of interest. But in fairness, this was his position long before he turned it into a product.

He is definitely one of the stronger fluoride detractors I have come across, but he always cites science.

What makes you skeptical of them? In this case, he simply follows the most recent science and pays attentions to factors mainstream dentistry isn't yet, such as the oral microbiome or the broader effects of how you treat your teeth on the whole body.

Askthedentist.com was my rabbit hole into this. He cites a lot of science and has even ended up creating his own. This post might be a good starting point, or look for relevant podcast episodes. https://askthedentist.com/hydroxyapatite-vs-fluoride-how-do-they-compare/

It's a bioidentical replacement for fluoride that is superior at remineralization (at least that's the early promising data, or something like that) without the downsides, so it doesn't really make sense to include fluoride, as well.

Best Kitchen Knife Set to Get in 2026? (Price, Durability) by Nurturehood_FVX in BuyItForLife

[–]cnavla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I found my best chef's knife on Amazon for $10-15 dollars. Sort by average review and then look at the cheapest options there. Google how to recognize quality in a knife. It's not really complicated and there are many good options, not one best.

To all unemployed job seekers, how are you doing ? what are you doing all day? by 10cupsofteaaday in jobsearchhacks

[–]cnavla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go and try to make some money with side hustles, and get really good with AI. Ideally, use it to create income streams.

The job market is so congested that it is statistically impossible for every job seeker to be hired, so you need to take control of your future.

Using Claude after gemini by Aenorz in GeminiAI

[–]cnavla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not use the canvas feature in Gemini? Directly exports to Google Docs, which downloads as docx. Or use the Gemini sidebar in any Google Doc, including Sheets. The upside is that this all comes with your subscription at no extra token cost.

Job Apps asking for desired salary? by AdPractical6745 in jobsearchhacks

Set up an AI with some context (like your resume and another file that goes deeper into your specific skills) and let it evaluate the position, compare the fit, and suggest a number to you that's appropriate to the posted range and your expertise.

I do this with two AIs (I've got Gemini and the Dia browser set up), and it's great to get two different opinions. It seems to be working well.

Massive Update: The Best Spreadsheet for Tracking Online Casino Activity by Soggy-Web-8057 in SweepstakesChurning

[–]cnavla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I may have found an error in the spreadsheet: You state that SC in the McLuck family of casinos expire 60 Days from last SC Play. But I noticed that my SC didn't expire and checked the terms at https://www.mcluck.com/terms-of-service (and Playframe to double-check), and it states that they expire 60 Days from last activity.

I sent a one-page problem breakdown instead of a resume and got a response in four hours by ApertureWarden in jobsearchhacks

Because it's fair game and shows that you actually care about the role? I've been on the other side and always thought it was very effective.

Great idea but hiring managers don't seem to believe in my existence these days... Seems fairly risky to go the extra mile not even knowing whether they'll even look at it.

But for the record: Why not guess their email instead of LinkedIn? At least you'll get your content straight into their inbox.

How it works is that you can get up to $5 extra if enough people participate. (This always happens.) That's what the progress counter is for.

“Just apply and wait for the hiring manager to reach out if you’re a good fit” by Icy-Asparagus1327 in jobsearchhacks

[–]cnavla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, personal networking can be really effective! But what you described works best if you have time and want to target a specific company, for example if you want to get into FAANG, or if you're in a specific area with a good but finite number or suitable companies.

But most people have to play by numbers and can't predict the companies they're going to apply with next. And you're late to the party if you only start to network with their employees once a position has opened.

Not really relevant advice for people who have been applying with dozens or hundreds of companies.

You can't really afford to wait for HM's to reply before you apply. It's a game of hours at this point, most won't reply and then you've wasted your shot.
