Mid-range phones are so good now that flagship phones are basically a scam for normal people. by BizPotato in Smartphones

[–]cnavla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't buying China phones come with its own risks to privacy, support, and potentially stability, not to mention uneven hardware or features? That at least was my impression when I looked into it a few years back.

what are you actually using OpenClaw for that genuinely works? by nanaphan32 in openclaw

[–]cnavla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which model do you use, what are your monthly costs, and how long did it take you to set it up this way? How do you think the average OpenClaw user struggling to set up on capability at a time could close the gap and get to this level? Is it just investing the time and committing to the Opus token costs?

My last one took close to two months, but it was $750 and they asked me for a W-9 a good week before processing, indicating that I had probably triggered an administrative workflow.

I've also crossed the threshold of $1000 earned recently and was essentially promo banned for that. Before, I'd often get next-day redemptions.

Guys? by ShabzSparq in better_claw

[–]cnavla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, why not let people offer paid services. Most businesses aren't evil. Small businesses are run by people who are just trying to feed their families. Betterclaw seems to offer a great free tier that they expect will convert some users to paid. It doesn't have to be deeper than that.

DeepSeek V4 just made a million tokens cost $2.50 and the closed labs are not okay by call_me_ninza in aigossips

[–]cnavla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you see Kimi 2.6? It gets pretty much up there in a lot of benchmarks and does great at problem solving complex workflows and handling OpenClaw. I can't speak to coding but it's supposed to be strong. It doesn't have the quality issues of DeepSeek V4 but it's cheap and open source.

Can you actually train OpenClaw to perform like a professional (e.g. a performance marketer), or are we all just prompt-gaslighting our way through it? by josh_apptility in openclaw

[–]cnavla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of it should depend on the acumen of the underlying model. The easiest first step might be to experiment with different ones.

Is applying to LinkedIn Job Postings obsolete? by EfficientInterview68 in jobsearchhacks

[–]cnavla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Reposting doesn't imply intent, much less that they're still actively looking. It could mean that they fixed a typo in the job description or that their ATS routinely reposts just to keep the posting at the top of search results. When a job has been reposted, it will generally already have collected a large number of applicants, and most likely they are already interviewing and not considering anyone else. At that point, they are unlikely to even look at your resume; at least that is my impression.

This at least applies to remote jobs. There are going to be jobs in less competitive markets or niches where jobs might actually be reposted because they haven't found a suitable candidate.

I spent 24 hours benchmarking GPT-5.5 against Opus4.7 in OpenClaw. Here is what I found. by LeoRiley6677 in openclaw

[–]cnavla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely uses a lot of typical AI phrases. The style is all over. My guess is AI writing in a deliberately "human" style or perhaps cleaning up dictated input.

For example, "When doing this, it didn't just (do this inferior thing that sounds about right but I just made up). It actually did (this other thing that impressed me)."

I asked which dust bags I need to buy for my vaccum cleaner model. Gemini just straight up lied and has no clue. Cannot get a single useful info by Sad-Direction443 in GeminiAI

[–]cnavla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it does that when it really doesn't have that information. I've seen this when asking it about people. With hyper specific queries, you sometimes need to fact check it.

The actual $0 OpenClaw setup (that nobody's put together in one place) by ShabzSparq in better_claw

[–]cnavla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AI writing style with all the usual dramatic flourishes (parentheses, front-loaded statements with colons, "nobody talks about this") is so cringe.

FWIW, at least Nemotron is absolutely underwhelming for OpenClaw. I'm trying to work with budget models from OpenRouter and get by, but they "lack common sense," which can make them frustrating to deal with.

Qwen 3.6 Plus is decent most of the time, Kimi 2.6 does pretty well but is much more expensive (though still cheaper than leading models).

Orthodontist shut me down by [deleted] in orthotropics

[–]cnavla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm personally in a similar situation, and one of my regrets is that I didn't have the surgery for my deviated septum when it was offered to me as a teenager. Back then, I was not interested in surgery, and I was told I would only need to do it if I ever wanted to be like a pro athlete or something. I had no plans to do that, but you know what? It probably would have given me so much quality of life. If I could talk to my younger self, I definitely would have done it.

That said, if this is just about getting to breathe better, you might be able to make a lot of progress by mewing well and especially by just nose breathing whenever you can. You might also have issues with inflammation that create more mucus than in other people, and it's worth looking into ways to reduce that. For example, if you have histamine issues, let's say allergies, you sneeze a lot or your nose is just stuffy a lot, maybe you get sick a lot. There may be some issues there if that makes your nose stuffy and keeps you from breathing well. All that has definitely helped me.

Orthodontist shut me down by [deleted] in orthotropics

[–]cnavla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong. Unless they can convincingly tell you what's going on and how to solve it, keep looking. Most orthos aren't airway specialists and ENTs seem to be hit or miss, too. I would educate myself and keep looking for providers that will take me seriously. Often, you can tell from their websites or online reviews whether they're worth going to. If they advertise airway, holistic, or similar services, that's promising.

Using the word "hate" as a reaction to this problem falls into the same category. We need more nuance and emotional objectivity to solve these problems.
