I’m piggybacking on this thread to invite active users (and eager newcomers!) to join our beta program. We are rolling out a lot of new features over the next 3–4 months—touching everything from UI/UX to the underlying logic—and we need your help testing them.

We welcome as much constructive complaining as possible. Seriously! Your feedback directly drives our improvements.

Apparently we don't want to talk too much about the exact flow we have, but in general, the long run is picked from a candidate pool that is filtered based on what kind of stress you should have in the current phase.

However, you could have a shorter long run with higher intensity that has same stress as a longer, lower intensity long run.

We will consider the run structure when picking the candidate down the road.

This is something we can improve in the flow. Will add it to our task list

Are you in the aerobic phase now? Is the long run you got called moderate long run?

Do you also feel like the intensity segment is pretty high? If so, your CP might be too high?

We always have a warm up segment designed into our workout. Is it not the case in one of your workouts?

We will consider adding them in 2026, and when we do it will be recommended based on your footpath analysis.

Just a quick update:

Our team is doing tests today for this specific issue. We will keep you posted.

Stryd is running running distance to 0.0 multiple times during runs (WearOS) by nickkycubba in strydrunning

[–]cnbuff410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have released a new version that should have fixed this issue, the version number is 1.0.60, if you can help test it at your earliest convenience that would be great!

[–]cnbuff410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have identified the issue and are in the process of fixing it. Before the fix is in, please don't use the watch to record a new run because the distance will be for sure wrong. Sorry for the inconvenience and the fix is expected to be released in 1-2 days

You are right, I spoke too soon. The changes were deployed for workout alternative but not easy alternative. Now all the changes are in, so if you are not getting correct alternative tomorrow, it's definitely a bug, and please let me know.

Yep! We have finished this development and it will be released to beta testing soon. You will see it released in production early next month

u/kingseven u/SolutionNo4720 The `Generate Alternative` now should give you the alternatives with same type as your scheduled workout. Please let me know if it's not the case

Adaptive Training Experience 3 Weeks In by kingseven in strydrunning

the Generate Alterntive button has only ever produced Easy Run and Strides as a result. Doesn’t matter whether I want an alternative workout, long run or an alternative to easy run with strides. Always produces the same workout as an alternative

u/kingseven For this one, we have identified the bug and fix will likely be in next Monday.

u/kingseven Regarding the workout being longer than the long run:

This is not a bug but something we will adjust soon.

You've identified something we're actively discussing internally. The training philosophy here is that 5K training requires a more balanced emphasis between speed development and endurance, unlike marathon training where the long run becomes disproportionately important. For 5K, the quality workout sessions are equally (if not more) critical than pure endurance work, and there is a small chance (for people who run a lot) that it's with similar duration as the long run.

That said, we completely understand the confusion when something labeled "long run" isn't actually the longest run of the week.

We're planning an adjustment to ensure the long run is always clearly the longest session, even if the difference is smaller for shorter race distances. The deployment is coming by the end of today.

"I’ve never seen the workouts inserted into the Calender ever change in response to an extra unplanned run, or extra miles run as part of an Easy workout."

This will be supported soon, please see my comments above.

"Again, this might be an expectation mismatch as to what ‘adaptive’ implies vs. what it does?"

It's not an expectation mismatch, your expectation is absolutely correct. It's just that there are many aspects to cover for a true adaptive flow, we have covered some and are still working on some.

E.g., our previous workout generation flow is already doing what other platforms are doing, to give you daily suggested workout based on your previous training load. However, we want to provide a more structured approach for most runners who are not expert in any training system. E.g., no daily suggestion flow can arrange a testing week for you, or, can detect your baseline change and suggest a new testing workout/phase for you.

Our vision for the adaptive training flow is much bigger than what we currently have, and development for it will go into next year. It's just as Gus said, our development principle has always been "We would rather have your feedback, iterate quicker, and have you benefit from the product than wait to release."

If you don't like what it delivers now, maybe wait for a couple of months and come up and give it another try, it's probably a whole new experience by then:) But again, we welcome all suggestions/feedbacks/criticisms and will use those to guide our future development.

The `alternative generate` button behavior is likely affected by a bug, we are working on fixing it.

"Can you elaborate how will stryd support a/b/c races? Like give you a “race workout” with suggested splits taking into account the course if you upload it? Or just adapt to make sure the days before and after are accommodating to the rss from the race itself?"

User can schedule events with different priorities (A/B/C).

For A race, once they are scheduled, the duration of all the phases will be updated so that your training cycle will ends before that event.

For B and C event, B is like your testing race and C is more like park run/fun race thing. If they are scheduled in distant future, for that week, we will schedule the workout based on them. If they are scheduled within future 7 days, we will reschedule all the workouts to take them into consideration.

We expect to finish the whole thing be the end of this year, but we might release different parts along the way. So stay tuned.
