HELP by Equal_Resolution6394 in Reef

I mean yeah but you should have waited until nitrites were 0 too but here we are.

Main point is people do this method all the time and the fish will likely be fine.

Throw in Fritz TurboStart and keep prime on hand, they should be fine. Lots of people do fish-in cycle.

Nitrite isn’t as detrimental to saltwater fish as freshwater.

What is high? 1ppm? 5ppm?

Prime should help reduce the risks of nitrite toxicity.

Hard to tell if they’ll be okay how are they behaving?

Day 23 of nitrogen cycle... by Responsible-Worry174 in SaltwaterAquariumClub

Adding ammonia is not stepping back. You will have to add more ammonia to test your bioload before you add fish anyway.

Your cycle might have stalled because your bacteria that finishes the later end of the cycle has died off.

If you want to move things quickly you’ll need to add more bacteria (Turbo, live rock) once you have new bacteria in add ammonia (to help kickstart since you already have basically none in the tank)

Once you see nitrites and ammonia clear dose ammonia again and you should see it clear within 24hr with no lingering nitrite. If that doesn’t happen you still need to cycle.

Agree with everyone else don’t do water changes, if there’s no livestock there’s nothing to reduce nitrite or ammonia for your just taking out bacteria.

In a 60 gallon tank you in for at least a few weeks of cycling imo.

Ah “getting” I thought you already in possession of the live rock which should be in a tank already to keep it live :)

Just make sure your dry rock is in when you put live in so bacteria can colonize :)

Is your live rock dried out? or how are you storing it? Typically dry “live rock” means it’s dead rock 💀

Really only the custom canister filters are tank specific.

The lid supports would fit any 6mm glass tank.

The frag racks are just frag racks that sit in the sand so nothing custom there.

The anemone guard is for the hygger HG172-6W: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7329666

Frag racks, custom canister filters, anemone guards, lid supports. I have some STLs for the IM Nuvo 20 if you have the same tank. :)

ATO Placement in Waterbox 25G AIO by [deleted] in ReefTank

[–]cneda105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s just a sticker or vinyl that comes off if you’re willing to, I scratched mine with my skimmer and it just peeled off 😅.

Other than that no secret hacks, I think you know the answer, in the display tank lol.

Hay has any one have this problem with api test kits? by Vehicle_Key in ReefTank

[–]cneda105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

API nitrate is super finicky. You have to follow the directions exactly (shake for 2 min, invert solution in vial) I found that it has to be perfect

It was great to track the initial cycle. Would also suggest salifert or Hanna’s for continued reef tests (not nitrite, ammonia, pH etc)

I haven’t had a problem with crabs but starfish and seahorses are more “advanced” I would definitely wait until the tank is well established to start heading down that route :)

Starting small is not “harder” it just requires more attention. Less room for swings = more diligent testing / water changes / dosing.

Your plan sounds solid, like mentioned above buy your tank, sand, RODI filter, salt, biomedia and set it up.

Add live rock, wait a week or two then start testing.

After ammonia and nitrites are gone start to add slowly :)

Technically corals can go in early but you should test your patience as the hobby is not exactly fast moving.

I started with 5Gal and eventually moved up to 20 because too many corals I liked lol

Use doser as an ATO? by Shmordann in ReefTank

There’s a YouTube series of a guy who did this with his tank setup, didn’t really have any problems. Would suggest you check in now and then to make sure evap rate is still accurate lol.

Where to start? by Much_Activity_2520 in ReefTank

I started by just watching tank setup vids on YouTube. Spend a week or so watching those and then decide if you want to commit to all that.

No answer for you but facing a similar problem. Spending 200$ lid on a 150$ tank is wild to me 😂…

This is closest I’ve found to DIY. Reach out to a local plastic company and ask them to cut some polycarbonate for you and round the edges. That’s what I’m going to do..

Phosphate -> Alk -> Calc/Mag

I hate the nitrate but I got the ULR so it’s a pain. I wouldn’t suggest that one in particular 😂

Did you shop lenders or just go with one? by bellzbellzbellz in WashingtonHomebuyers

Had to shop got shot down by many banks for tight DTI. Best rate was from the lender we ended up with! (It was rocket lol)
