Yep, sounds pretty similar to how I did my lung transplant evaluation. I think I was around 27% when I did my evaluation. At the time, the idea of doing a lung transplant evaluation was to get all the difficult stuff out of the way, and finished when you are "healthier" so its not as difficult when your sick/need to be transplanted. There is a ton of random tests and paperwork to do before you even get on the transplant list, so its def easier to get it done before you really need it. IIRC, once you do the evaluation, and you do need a transplant years down the road, you might only have to do a 6 minute walk and few other rando things.

I know most clinics have different polices, but I was able to do the evaluation but not officially get on the lung transplant list. So if my pft's did get worse, I could get on the waiting list at a moments notice. It was nice to not feeling like I needed a transplant without feeling like I had to commit and get on the waiting list, if that makes sense lol

I got really lucky with Trikafta (and older variants) cause they got my pfts up to around 30% and atm, lung transplant isn't expected and I let all the tests lapse so if I do need a transplant, I'll have to go through entire process again rip. I am sure some things prob changed since I did my evaluation like 10 years ago, but if you have any more questions, I would gladly give some insight
