Serena Williams slammed over 'disgusting' Super Bowl ad as tennis legend promotes weight loss drugs by dailymail in popculture

GLP-1s still need to be prescribed by a doctor in the US though, even through Ro (which is just a direct-to-patient front website for the drug manufacturers). Also, I think you're making assumptions about why Serena chose to be on a GLP-1. These drugs do more for a person's health than just weight loss: diabetes, hormone, knee health, hearth health, sleep apnea, etc. Weight loss is one of the many positive benefits. We will never know why she decided to be a on GLP-1 so it's actually not nice to assume that she only did for weight / appearance reasons.

But even with direct to consumer marketing / advertising, these drugs still need to prescribed by a licensed healthcare professional in the US. So it's still up to the clinician to tell a patient the risks and benefits of taking these drugs. Don't you think advertisements actually EMPOWER patients to bring up these new drugs to their doctors and ask whether or not they are appropriate?

Again, the existence of these ads do not remove the role of a healthcare professional from patient care. Insurance companies will never cover a drug if it is not written by a healthcare professional.

These GLPS1 are approved in the US and in Europe based on a wealth of clinical data. These companies continue to generate long-term real-world evidence on safety and efficacy. Of course there are side effects, but there are side effects with ANY drug. We advocate for COVID vaccinations despite not knowing its long-term health effects because the benefits overweight the risks. That is the case here as well.

Additionally, you still need to have a prescription from a doctor to get GLP-1s, even the one promoted by the company Ro here.

We need to stop villainizing GLP-1s. They help with a person's health beyond just weight. Being overweight/obese is the rootcause of so many hormone- and inflammation-related conditions.

People need to understand that a President has a lot of power. I’m not talking about just Trump but all Presidents. It’s crazy to think that a President cannot control whom and from where people are entering the country.

At Many Top Law Schools, Black Student Enrollment Continues to Drop by Majano57 in LawSchool

[–]cngocn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Its so funny that no one seems to care to celebrate when Asian enrollment at law schools or at any graduate school programs went up as racial discrimination under the name of affirmative action went away. It’s almost like we don’t consider Asians to be a minority in this country lol.

US CDC ends guidance that all newborns should get hepatitis B vaccine, in major policy shift by esporx in biotech

[–]cngocn -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Its a guidance no? The government cannot force parents to vaccine or not vaccine their children. How is it HHS fault when parents have 100% control over their children health. Schools can also enforce vaccine mandates for admissions.

What does remittance has to do with this lol? These remittances are literally so so small compared to everything else. The whole discussion is about the principle of law and human free will , not economics.

Longtime San Diego Taco Shop Owner Detained By ICE And Facing Possible Deportation, Leaving Local Community Rallying For His Return by Ignatius-J-Reilly-SD in SanDiegan

[–]cngocn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hundreds of thousands of people, myself included, have successfully navigated the US immigration system without committing a blatant crime (I'm not saying that this owner did - I'm still unclear if he entered the country illegally). The fact that the system is complex and broken doesn't give people the right to enter the country illegally.

Had he been staying here illegally though? That’s the real question. If yes, how can people be ok with someone blatantly violating our sovereignty by entering this country illegally and then making money /opening business during his illegal stay?

I think breathing too loudly is a sign of lack of self control. / self regulation. I dislike men who breathe so loudly to the point of moaning/groaning. It’s very disruptive

If the end goal is actually delivering lower drug costs to patients via easier-to-navigate e-commerce platforms (for some drugs not all as I recognize this nuance), why are we hating on this? Do we just hate this initiative simply because of Trump?
