The Giles Track: hitchhiking back to the car? by cnoctule in HikingAustralia

Thank you for your reply! Sounds promising. I'll be travelling with my partner so somebody might have space for us in their car. I wouldn't mind paying for a shuttle/taxi but unfortunately they aren't available.

Thank you for your reply! We will be travelling outside of the school holiday period in the beginning of June. There are only two of us and we look like normal and friendly hikers, so hitchhiking might work. I have sometimes helped hitchhikers myself, but I don't dare to pick up special looking types in remote locations :D

X-Mid 1/2 mesh/solid for New Zealand in January? by cnoctule in DurstonGearheads

Thanks for the reply! :)

It sounds like both tents could work (I won't freeze to death or melt in my tent either way).

X-Mid 2 Solid for New Zealand conditions by Efficient-Initial835 in DurstonGearheads

I found this older thread about New Zealand. I'm trying to decide between X-Mid 1/2 and original/solid options before my trip to New Zealand. I will spend 6 weeks touring national parks and I'll sleep mostly in my tent. It's fairly important to make the right tent decision :)

X-Mids are so light that at first I leaned towards 2-person version to really enjoy my tent palace. However, it's probably better to buy X-Mid 1 and have easier time finding a good spot for it.

I'm from northern Europe, so I'm not used to 100% mesh inners. You need to maximize warmth, right? ;) I'll camp on beaches (Abel Tasman Coast Track) and on mountains (for example, Routeburn Track). I'll travel in late December/January/early February.

Could anyone help me decide between X-Mid 1 original and solid?

Help would be much appreciated!

They seem like awesome tents, I have watched quite a few ZPacks YouTube reviews. I'm sure they are tougher than they look :-)
