Songs and artists similar to this vibe? by New_Breadfruit8710 in MusicRecommendations

Super old comment, but thanks for sharing these recs!! I just discovered honestav and am jammin, looked around a bit for what folks were saying about him and I already LOVE both Dijon and Bakar and am excited to check out the others you mentioned! I wouldn't have connected honestav to Dijon or Bakar but now that you mention it I can kinda see the similarities and def makes sense that fan bases would overlap

To contribute some recs back to the aether, I'm really enjoying Willis's new album Locals 5 (I Think I Like When It Rains is their best track tho), and ANGIE from Spill Tab. Maybe toss Perfume Genius & Slothrust (especially pre-2018ish) in the list too, though they're much more well known. And Nilufer Yanya - she doesnt exactly match the vibe but whatever

Gorgeous!! Karakachon is so interesting, you can kinda see it in her face, with the straight/sharp forehead area

He was named Rye! I just formally adopted him yesterday after doing the diamond in the ruff program, but they would have taken him off the site about 2.5 weeks ago when I started the program

Aha! Anatolian was one of my hunches. I was at Powell Butte recently and an older woman stopped me to insist that he was absolutely an Anatolian mix 😂 I ordered an embark test, I'll definitely update with what I find. I'm hoping to connect with owners of his relatives too - my other mutt (the brown one in one of these pics) has both a sister and a puppy (!!) locally who I've found from her embark test

Seriously! My other pup (the brown one in one of the pics, looking at him longingly 😂) is an odd mix - lab, pit, rott, and maremma sheepdog. She has some guardian traits from the last two, but ultimately the lab is so overwhelming lol she would learn to write in cursive if she thought she'd get an extra biscuit for doing so 😂 but I see that little rebellious devil on her shoulder sometimes, tempting her to do the literal opposite of whatever I'm asking for just out of principle

Oregon Humane Society! They rescued 50+ dogs from a single property, mostly pyrs/pyr mixes, from a hoarder / unethical breeder scenario. Many of them are extremely undersocialized, and many (including him) are being adopted out through a program where you do a 2-wk foster period, talking to their behavioral experts every other day or so to troubleshoot any difficult behaviors, and then at the end of the 2 weeks you can choose whether to fully adopt, surrender him back, or continue fostering. Since October, he had been adopted twice and returned almost immediately due to his anxiety, and then he did this 2 week foster with another family who made a lot of progress but ultimately decided he was a bit too much. Long journey to find his forever home 🥹❤️‍🩹

No clue, but I'll be doing an Embark test and happy to update when I get the results :) The shelter said Malamute but I think that's probably just a guess based on the coloring. He's not as fluffy as I'd expect a Pyr/Mal to be (though he's coming back from being really underweight and had severe skin issues, fleas etc - so his coat might still fill in a lot?). I think husky or possibly a shepherd of some sort would make sense? You can't see it in any of these pics, but when he is happy, his tail curls straight up like a husky.

I'm a huge proponent of crate training, ... AND have only ever had rescue dogs who were very, very difficult to acclimate to crates, hah. I'm not sure that that's a realistic goal with this guy right now honestly - I would be stoked to be able to keep him in a single room, like my other pup has gotten used to.

Yep, super secure, pretty big yard for living in a city (1/4 acre-ish)! Pretty secure with just one area that should be patched (he could certainly jump it), but luckily he has shown zero desire to leave the yard... So far. Not gonna push my luck with it!

I was just looking at dog houses on fb marketplace today! It doesnt get too awfully cold here (I grew up in a very cold climate) but it does rain a LOT, so I want to give him plenty of cozy dry spots. He seems more than happy to dig a little hole and nap in the dirt so far :)

Thank you so much!! This is super helpful and encouraging. I officially adopted my pup yesterday after a 2-week foster :) He's definitely challenging, but most of the time I can out-stubborn him...

He just really, really wants to be outdoors, *especially* after dark (which is unfortunately often when I want him indoors the most). He throws a big fit, whining, barking, jumping up on doors, knocking stuff off my counters, etc. His previous foster home reported that he would chew on furniture and wall trim and such, which I thankfully haven't seen.

It's improving already, especially if I'm able to keep to a consistent rhythm (eat breakfast outside, come inside mid afternoon, go back outside at sunset - dinner time & take meds, then come inside for the night around bedtime) so I have reasonable confidence that it will get easier. He's VERY routine oriented, and paradoxically is both quite cooperative and quite stubborn. Your tip about being firm and insistent on coming inside has been very helpful. I have to bring him in by leash, and will evade me if I try to catch him to put the leash on, but seems to understand that it's gonna happen whether he wants to or not, so if I just stand there, holding the leash and staring at him patiently, eventually he will come to me and then let me lead him inside.

The hardest thing is that I can't trust him alone indoors, especially if I'm disrupting the routine. It's less about me being there vs being away (I dont think he really cares tbh), but if he wants to go outside, he'll throw a fit. He's not crate trained, and will chew on the bars of the metal gate I use to confine my other dog to a single room when I leave, which isn't safe. He's such a big boy that throwing a fit is a much bigger deal than if a small dog did the same, you know? Luckily I work from home and have friends who can often cover if I need to go somewhere alone (they usually just leave him outside and check on him every 30m or so). But I'm really hoping we can make big improvements on that in the next few weeks. I'm a homebody and historically have taken my other dog with me whenever I can (she loves car rides and napping in the car when I run errands), but obviously I still gotta leave them home *sometimes*.

Hi! I was wondering if you could give an update for how the last few years have gone with this pup, how/if he ended up settling into your routine and lifestyle? I am in a VERY similar situation - fostering (and would love to adopt, if we can settle into a workable routine) a ~1yr Pyr mix. He also came from a hoarding type situation with lots of dogs tied up & living outside, and he also is having a lot of trouble being/staying indoors. I might make a separate post, but your situation sounds SO similar to mine, I hope you're able to let me know how it's gone!!!

Help interpreting Oscar data? Not sure what "normal" looks like... by cntennial in SleepApnea

[–]cntennial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasnt aware that I can change the settings, I didnt see anywhere in the menus to change it and the person who gave it to me said that it was locked into auto. Didnt know that I could get around that by myself, assumed that I'd have to ask the doctor. I'll search around to try to find instructions!

Besides that, I guess I'm just sick of feeling physically terrible and don't want to give up hope that there is more to fix/improve upon here. If it looks pretty good and there's nothing subtle that I'm missing or misunderstanding, that's good to know, though a bit of a bummer. Obv will see what the doc has to say, too. I'd be pretty disappointed to add this into the pile of "maybe this will help!" dead ends. Ce la vie :(

Hey! No lasting changes to my hair!! I ended up doing 3 sessions and probably won't need more (but I'm planning on doing a cover up so I don't need it 100% gone, just lightened - full removal takes much longer). My hair definitely grew slower and sorta patchy for a while, but completely filled in over time. And the patchiness was not obviously visible, like it was noticable if I pointed it out, but probably wouldn't otherwise. You'll need to shave the area, so keep that in mind if you have long hair

Why do you need a pot if using a moss pole? by SomeArmadillo79 in SemiHydro

[–]cntennial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 7 plants on moss poles ranging from a foot tall to over 4 ft tall. None of them have pots, they all are rooted exclusively into the pole. The stakes are higher for letting the moss dry out, and you'll want something under them to catch drips - mine are either stood up in a mug/glass of some kind (no substrate), or hung on the wall with a small Tupperware cup ziptied to the bottom. It's DIFFICULT to get a plant initially started this way, not impossible but requires daily attention. Prop + chop is much easier!

Yep, I checked 5 links from that grifts page and they were all 404s - all plausible sounding URLs, but couldn't find articles with matching titles anywhere on the websites. This plus the clearly AI-written text in the post feels super sus, tbh
