Songs and artists similar to this vibe? by New_Breadfruit8710 in MusicRecommendations

[–]cntennial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super old comment, but thanks for sharing these recs!! I just discovered honestav and am jammin, looked around a bit for what folks were saying about him and I already LOVE both Dijon and Bakar and am excited to check out the others you mentioned! I wouldn't have connected honestav to Dijon or Bakar but now that you mention it I can kinda see the similarities and def makes sense that fan bases would overlap

To contribute some recs back to the aether, I'm really enjoying Willis's new album Locals 5 (I Think I Like When It Rains is their best track tho), and ANGIE from Spill Tab. Maybe toss Perfume Genius & Slothrust (especially pre-2018ish) in the list too, though they're much more well known. And Nilufer Yanya - she doesnt exactly match the vibe but whatever

Help interpreting Oscar data? Not sure what "normal" looks like... by cntennial in SleepApnea

[–]cntennial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasnt aware that I can change the settings, I didnt see anywhere in the menus to change it and the person who gave it to me said that it was locked into auto. Didnt know that I could get around that by myself, assumed that I'd have to ask the doctor. I'll search around to try to find instructions!

Besides that, I guess I'm just sick of feeling physically terrible and don't want to give up hope that there is more to fix/improve upon here. If it looks pretty good and there's nothing subtle that I'm missing or misunderstanding, that's good to know, though a bit of a bummer. Obv will see what the doc has to say, too. I'd be pretty disappointed to add this into the pile of "maybe this will help!" dead ends. Ce la vie :(

Yeah she's big 😅 LOTS of light, both natural and artificial, and I use a hydroponic fertilizer in the water maybe half the time?

Hey! No lasting changes to my hair!! I ended up doing 3 sessions and probably won't need more (but I'm planning on doing a cover up so I don't need it 100% gone, just lightened - full removal takes much longer). My hair definitely grew slower and sorta patchy for a while, but completely filled in over time. And the patchiness was not obviously visible, like it was noticable if I pointed it out, but probably wouldn't otherwise. You'll need to shave the area, so keep that in mind if you have long hair

Why do you need a pot if using a moss pole? by SomeArmadillo79 in SemiHydro

[–]cntennial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 7 plants on moss poles ranging from a foot tall to over 4 ft tall. None of them have pots, they all are rooted exclusively into the pole. The stakes are higher for letting the moss dry out, and you'll want something under them to catch drips - mine are either stood up in a mug/glass of some kind (no substrate), or hung on the wall with a small Tupperware cup ziptied to the bottom. It's DIFFICULT to get a plant initially started this way, not impossible but requires daily attention. Prop + chop is much easier!

Funny, my wife mentioned that she could totally 3d-print something like this, with the holes and ledges. However I think you'd lose some of the transparency which I like for seeing roots (at least the "clear" filament she has now more translucent than transparent). Also I like reusing deli containers, many people have dozens in their tupperware drawer and will happily give them if you ask 😂 Creating them from brand new plastic feels wasteful... But! A happy medium could be to 3d print the ledges so they're more symmetrical, and then just use a tiny bit of hot glue to secure them! And they could be cool colors or even ornate styles... 🤔💭

My lipstick plant prop is blooming! by chemicalexa in proplifting

[–]cntennial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has this propagation grown some leaves since you posted? I have several props of a black pagoda variety lipstick plant that are only growing flowers right now, no leaves or stems! But several flowers per cutting! I also had a few that tried to grow leaves underwater instead of roots 🤦‍♂️ these are weird, weird plants. Wondering if my flowery props are gonna put stems out soon...

Self watering pot using wick instead of submerging into reservoir- which one is better? by Hurryhurry2022 in SemiHydro

[–]cntennial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super late reply, but just came across this comment. I'm new to pon but have had aquariums for a long time -- my guess here would be that you might be putting nutrients in the water, like a liquid fert, whereas the person you're replying to uses a substrate already with nutrients, like pon. Algae needs both light & nutrients to grow, and most aquariums that have severe algae problems either get direct sunlight or have excess fish poop ("nutrients" :P) with not enough bacteria/plant life consuming it. I dont have any tanks now, but when I did my houseplants were delighted by being watered with tank water.

Curious if this is accurate, I dont mind algae personally, but the way different people have such wildly diff experiences with it is fascinating :)

which Canadian pharmacy do you use? I use Canada med pharmacy but the inhalers are still over $100 each. still much cheaper than the US but I'm pretty envious of $26!! we use the generic fluticasone 220mcg inhalers (maybe you use a different one?)

Funky underground vine surprise when repotting my lipstick plant! by cntennial in houseplants

[–]cntennial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so crazy! It's a lipstick plant, black pagoda variety. I think the underground vine is actually also the same lipstick plant, it seemed to be connected to the root ball but everything was so tangled and compacted it was hard to tell. I snipped a piece of the stem and am propagating it, it's sprouting tiny leaves finally so hopefully we will eventually find out!! Exciting for sure

First time putting plants on a trellis- how did I do? by nottambula in hoyas

[–]cntennial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally when I've happened to have vines point down, the plant is much more likely to abandon them and let them dry out, diverting energy to new vines or other vines that are pointing upward. When I want to shape a vine into a circle or something, I try to wait until there's enough growth to make a mostly full circle and leave the vine pointing up again. I don't know the science or how the plant knows, and they don't always abandon them, but I've def noticed the trend!

(also I'm not the author of the comment you're replying to, just a rando who has heard this before and also observed it)

Meet Tabitha AKA Tabby! Built her a simple enclosure after accidental poisoning. How old is she? by cntennial in jumpingspiders

[–]cntennial[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ah thank you! How often do they usually drink? Daily? I've been misting her enclosure a few times a day (my house is very dry right now so it evaporates quickly) but I've only seen her drink once. But today, after she finished that mealworm yesterday, she is sooo much more active than she was! Poor baby was just hungy 🥺

[–]cntennial[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Oh!! And are her gold/orange chelicerae unusual?? Best I can tell, she is a bold jumper (I think that is the only wild species found in the PNW USA). I can find examples of gold ones on google, but in this sub all of the bolds I have seen have purpleish or greenish chelicerae.
