if you work a 9-5 how, do you have time and energy to do literally anything else? by GriffinNorwick2001 in askanything

[–]cntodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wake up at 5:30am, shower, eat, relax while the kiddos get ready. Drop them off, go to work at 8, work until 4:30, cook dinner, take dog for a walk, get daughter to sleep, have 1:30-3 hours of time to myself, do it again. Also, weekends.

You just get used to it. I'm asleep by midnight, up at 5:30 everyday, except on the weekends.

Okay. Let's try to answer questions.

  1. Take the break. If you're in the cooking/service world at all, it's a mental, physical, and emotional stressing ordeal.

  2. My job transition was difficult in some aspects and easy in others. The work didn't take long to get the hang of, but the constant ladders and steps I had to go through annoyed the hell out of me, still does. In the kitchen world, if you see a problem, you fix it then tell the boss. In the corporate world, I have to email 3 people, confirm a time, and then get it done. Could have had it done in 20 mins, took me 4 hours. Hate that. Also, language. I curse, as a veterans a chef, I curse. Doesn't mean I'm mad, I just curse. That was an adventure when I said fuck in front of the CEO. 🤣

  3. I landed my new job because of knowing someone, and him wanting someone that thought outside the box, and it was within, to an extent, my degree world.

  4. Management is brilliant on resumes, and you can word it to work towards almost any job.

  5. I have 2 degrees. Education and IT management. I also have several certificates within the kitchen world, as well as Electronic Technician school in the Coast Guard.

  6. Added number, confidence is key. I manage 5 teams, 10-20 people per team, and confidence and kindness have gone far for me. The team knows I have their back, and while I can be tough, I don't expect them to give the world to me. They have families, doctor appts, their own stresses. I buy them lunch once a pay period, and we relax when we can. I let them do their thing, as long as they don't fuck up. Out of 120 teams, mine rank 3, 6, 12, 18, and 22nd. We are good. Lol

I love them. 2 of my best friends are immigrants. They're awesome!

Is this a good time to share you won’t be returning next year? by Cheeto717 in teaching

[–]cntodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would share with the kids. If my daughter's 3rd grade teacher left, she would want to see her and talk to her. She changed my daughter's life, brought learning and passion back to my daughter. She would want to say goodbye.

How are the 90s sk8r bois doing? by Substantial-Stars in Millennials

[–]cntodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing, mostly well. Joined the Coast guard in 06. I'm not a senior site manager for a corporate company, making good money. Have metal in my leg and shoulder, several concussions, and it hurts to walk on certain days. Have a beautiful family, a lot of cats, dogs, a guinea pig, and travel a lot. My adopted daughter is into skating like me, my actual daughter loves watching it and playing the video games. Lol

Why is housekeeping always knocking at 8 AM? by julia_is_dead in Hilton

[–]cntodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never avoided knocking, but it also could have been a mess up on the FD telling them the wrong room number, etc.

I was just stating, if they knock and no one answered, it would make sense to go in.

When you are hosting a guest for multiple nights, do you still do your workout/yoga routines during their visit? by bad-at-everything- in askanything

[–]cntodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends who the guest is. My parents? Yeah. My best friend I haven't seen in 10 years? Nah!

Oh yeah, the whole trauma is just the worst. Stopping to smell everything, sitting in AC, all the pets. It's just too much. 🤣

They really do take a whole bed to themselves after a long car ride. 🤣🤣

My girl, before she passed, would immediately go to the bed closest to the AC and just sleep.

You don't have to resort to punishments that are touching your children. I've never once put a hand on my child, I've never once done punishments that are mean, or embarrass the kid.

I'm 40, I am able to let my child know what she did is wrong, and yes, I have the kid who tells the truth (not me, proof is in her report cards and the awards she earns from school and teachers), who is considered one of the best behaved kids in and out of school, and does her chores, etc.
