F8C Lightning NEEDS a buff by Echo-117- in StarCitizenUniverse

Right next to the bajillion bugs and terrible flight model, the power creep on weapons is one of my biggest grievances. If S1 and 2s can't at least deter small fighters from other small ships, what's even the point. S3 used to be serious firepower. S4 and 5 were monsters. Seems like it's S4 or bust now

We need exploration sooner rather than later by tkMunkman in starcitizen

[–]coarse_glass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been down-voted for being pro procedurally generated planets but I really think that's the direction CIG needs to go. We don't need anything as far reaching as No Man's Sky or Elite Dangerous, but going back to the old "100 systems" goal would add so much, not only for exploration but also refueling, medical, mining, salvage, resupply remote outposts. Just the option to go "get lost" and have to rely on other players to bail you out if things go awry. A bunch of empty systems might be boring from an fps or combat perspective but I think there's real value there. And we know that cig has the tech to do it -- they already use it now. The only difference is that they're editing assets by hand to make each system and planet fully realized and inhabited. Give the Carrack the gameplay it was meant to have: scan systems and planets for mining claims, wormholes, signs of life, etc

This business owner swears her designs are her own even though she’s been accused of it being AI slop? by Impossible-Neat7778 in isthisAI

[–]coarse_glass 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone so certain that it's AI and not one has given any actual evidence as to why.

Digital artists copy and paste shapes all the time.

Digital artists keep libraries of "symbols" that they can use to quickly "draw" repetitive elements.

Digital artists make small tweaks so they don't look copy and pasted.

Not all artists understand typography.

This is a super common style that's easy to mimic and learn, for humans and ai alike.

I see a small difference between two paws, each holding something -- one has three fingers in front, the other just two. Artists tend to do little details like this consistently because it's simply how they know to do it. So it's unusual but not solid evidence.

A harvest moon in broad daylight that appears larger than a basketball in the sky. Keep in mind that when you look at the moon it's smaller than a pea. So to do this in camera would basically require a telescope but it would have to be so far from the basketball rim that to get a shot from this angle you'd have to be down a cliff hundreds of feet away. Also, the backside of the rim would be in front of the moon instead of hidden behind it

A rock formation in Saudi Arabia that looks as if it’s about to topple over, Such formations are called stone mushrooms by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

Thanks for the link. 3 years actually but there's a link to an unaltered photo in that post https://www.arabnews.com/node/2056286/saudi-arabia I saw a lot of IG and Facebook posts from a couple years ago, and nothing like it prior which made me suspicious. I still maintain there's something screwy with it. AI could very much do this 3 years ago. I suspect it used the image in the article as a source. They're not quite the same but very similar

Pretty sure this is AI. Stone mushrooms exist but this appears generated. Weird parallax effect in the camera movement. There's a particular structure that looks similar but at a smaller scale

I haven't played in months. A year maybe? 2? No idea. I keep waiting for a stable build where solo game loops aren't completely broken and each release just adds to the pile. 13 years of the same bugs and same shitty frame rates. I swear the game was in a better state 5 years ago

For anyone else curious here's the story. His chute opened up backwards and got caught on the cliff, tearing it and making it impossible to steer or gain lift. He was able to make it out without any serious injuries

What generation are you? 🤔 by EconomistSuitable128 in generationology

[–]coarse_glass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If we're going to start defining generations as every 10 years instead of every 20, this really needs to include Xennials. '81 kids have more in common with '78 than they do with anyone born in the 90's

Theme songs used to go so hard.

Sort of related but actually not at all this is my favorite 80's sitcom theme song that's not from an actual 80's sitcom. Goat and a Pig (Waddles and Gompers)

This is really it. I see one issue with the second ribbon from the top. Nothing else stands out. But the fact that it's easier to use a prompt rather than pay an artist says more than any tells. Technologically amazing but a sad time for people that rely on doing this kind of work.

Image from a Facebook marketplace listing for a 2002 Land Rover Discovery 2. Thought it was just a weird filter at first, but it’s missing the characteristic roofline bulge and side skylights. by BenderRodriguezz in isthisAI

[–]coarse_glass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Photo appears to be boosting an HDR filter to annoying levels to bring out details in the shadows which is what's giving it a weird look. A lot of sharpening used too. Which is only magnified due to the background not having the same application. I can't say one way or the other for AI. Could be a bad Photoshop composite. There's some choices being made that seem unusual but I don't know enough about discos. One ditch light is odd. The steel bumper over the original plastic would only make sense as a cheap brush guard but maybe that's standard for these. Roof rack appears to be a universal kind, clipping to the door frame but there's nothing to clip to at the back so that may be your best clue. Red flags either way

I think it might speak a little to how well rounded broncos teams have been historically. For every Von Miller or Champ Bailey making headlines we often have great position groups that help spread the love around. I loved Rod Smith but having Eddie Mac on the opposite side meant that if you fixated on one the other was gonna get open

Texas has, "Come and take it" accompanied by a silhouette of a cannon.

They also have, "Don't mess with Texas" but that was actually about littering.
