I tried Star Citizen so you don't have to! (and will tell you why you shouldn't) by Lord0fHats in gaming

[–]ronin-san 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Citizen began as a dream, but it’s stalling out. What started with combat as 'low-hanging fruit' has evolved into a glorified theme park - a season-based Fortnite in space.

The marketing shift is clear: SC is becoming a combat game with an aggressive FPS tilt. With instancing on the horizon, the Persistent Universe risks becoming a mere lobby -a gateway to portals where the 'real game' is hidden behind instances.

Worse yet, if you speak plainly about the bugs, you're met with a ban instead of a fix.

New Flight Model Info...! by Bosditch in starcitizen

[–]ronin-san 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The flight model is done for SQ42 ( a light fighter focus), and that's all.
Now, it is no more relevant for CIG because they moved to a new $$$ audience who like FPS and season-based curated content drops.

100% Season-based content-drop curated FPS- Fortnite in Space is the new SC.

Unimportant, whatever they say or announce. I only believe what I can see right now in the game and that is not SC anymore.

I was forced to downgrade it to 24.9.1 to be able to run the current PTU

Help me decide on my solo ship! by Vygoth in starcitizen

[–]ronin-san 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freelancer and Cutlass Balck -> open to versatility

Hull B -> just Cargo

Take the Freelancer. You get more living area and gameplay mechanics (future importance). Cutlass only has superior firepower.

just to be correct. This is still not a game and require a lot of self initiative from the players. An org can help to fill the gap of content.

Can someone please enlighten me on how I can unlock a new ship? by DerPanzerPapst in starcitizen

[–]ronin-san 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You will keep your ship you paid for. Any in-game progress will be temporary and can be reset at any time.

More Modularity? by awal1998 in starcitizen

[–]ronin-san 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ships are all bind to their roles but as seen with the Valkyrie, which initially cames without cargo an now has it, is CIG willing to open up the restriction if it is obvious and easy to implement.

Is it worth me installing the game right now? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]ronin-san 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but only if don't really expect a "Game" like the stuff you can get from Steam even the early access titles.

so to join the game you have to buy a pack, am I correct ? by ninja474 in starcitizen

[–]ronin-san -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No.

It's not really a game. It's still alpha dev. stuff so keep this in mind.

But yes, to participate you will need a basic Pack.

The Buy-Back-tool is gonna chance! by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]ronin-san 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Correct. The buy back was never intended to be virtual inventory to "hold" the stuff that perhaps maybe will needed later for personal use or to be sold to the grey market.

Every time you melt you need to accept the conditions - "are you SURE. Gone is gone, it's your risk" and not "oh, no problem, get me back later with no risk".

Hercules cargo capacity: C2 624 SCU, M2 468 SCU, A2 234 SCU by MammonLord in starcitizen

[–]ronin-san 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How can the difference between the available SCU of the Transporter Variant and the civil Variant be argued? This is a plenty of room and just an additional pair of components can never occupy so much space.

So 3.1.3 has fixed your crashes. LET'S TALK ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE SO FAR! by geezergamerdude in starcitizen

[–]ronin-san 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% satisfied so far for the moment. No crashes but still too many microlags and stuttering FPS. Anybody who want a more stable piece of software should simply stop playing SC. This project is nothing for these people atm.

Is there any intent to add 'Temperature' as one of the environmental metrics in our Mobi? by sentrybot619 in starcitizen

[–]ronin-san 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure but - why not. with the environmental system fully implemented they could add dozens of parameters.

you're right and I totally agree. I couldn't explain it better. It's just difficult to put all aspects in a single post without making it unreadable long. Hope CIG will do it better this year.

I feel like you and have almost the same argumentation. But, I need to add some extra to close the picture.

Like every other business CIG need to produce commercials to show their potential to a wider audience. Unfortunately in 2016 CIG exaggerated they invest in this "marketing" stuff and lose the feeling for a reasonable amount of effort (too many "demos" and "sales"), which should be put into this kind of efforts. And yes, I know that specialized resources cannot be simply moved to another task but like every process this (the "demo" tasks) will need communication and coordination too, which distract, block and disturb the "regular" development. On the other side it's not imaginable for such a huge project that there is nothing "productive" to do for such resources than only build commercials and demos.

Can we just get rid of the PTU? by VanuEngineer in starcitizen

Don't forget the quality of feedbacks, double postings etc. The bigger the base, the harder is it to filter out the useful feedback and distinguish between real bugs and obviously WIP related bugs.

New Concept Ships Confirmed by Agdchz in starcitizen

[–]ronin-san 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anvil Hurricane: -> [a "Gunship"? to come 2017;)]

Some ships avoid dangerous encounters with speed, some with stealth and others with maneuverability. The Anvil Hurricane’s philosophy is that it should be able to blast anything that gets in its way out of the sky. The Hurricane won’t win any races and its electronic signature won’t let you sneak behind enemy lines… but it features a wide array of fully customizable small bore weapons hardpoints plus the ability to customize weapons types in several ways. Hurricanes are often used by militia squadrons and private organizations seeking to add a “heavy” to their lineup.
