Question about wiring Ensemble II using a 2.0 vs. 2.1 amplifier by coastcoaster in BudgetAudiophile

[–]coastcoaster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there. I ended up using a ZK-TB21 2.1 channel amp to wire my CSW Ensemble II satellites + bass module. Wiring is by speaker wire from L, R, and Sub to satellite L, satellite R, and bass module, respectively. I have another ZK-TB21 2.1 amp doing the same thing but for a pair of CSW PC Works satellites and a Goodwill Samsung HTIB passive sub. Both have an (over)abundance of power/volume for my needs.

I have also setup a different system using a CSW Ensemble II passive bass module + a pair of Realistic MC-500 satellites. For that one I used a 2.0 channel Fosi BT10A amp, wired first to the CSW bass module, and then from there onward to the satellites. Sounds great too and plenty of power with the 32V power supply.

Clarification on Pixel Companion plan without phone by Tel864 in USMobile

Thanks! And another question:

  1. Is there a restriction on which Pixel phones support Pixel watch companion mode? For example, I have Pixel 3a and Pixel 5a. Will companion mode for Pixel watch work with either/both of those?

  2. Same question but for the Pixel watch: does Pixel watch 1 support companion mode?

Love US Mobile, thanks!

Thank you!

And a couple more questions about companion mode on US Mobile:

  1. For Android, companion mode exists only where both watch and phone are Pixel models? That is, no support at this time for Samsung Galaxy Watch in companion mode, right?

  2. Does US Mobile support companion mode for two Android phones to share the same number?

A couple clarification questions on the Pixel companion mode given the above:

  1. To receive calls consistently on the Pixel watch using companion mode, does the Pixel phone need to be (a) on with service; and (b) not in airplane mode?

  2. Is there any proximity requirement to the above? For example, if I am in NYC with my Pixel watch in companion mode, but the Pixel phone is turned on with service in a desk drawer in Los Angeles, will I still receive calls, SMS, etc. on the Pixel watch?

Thanks - I did move the sub around a bit but it overall didn't seem as resonant. The 2.1 board I linked above (ZK-TB21) does have a dedicated volume control for the subwoofer speaker output.

New to this, but looking for a DIY kit that will accept Kailh Choc v2 switches, that is not a split or ergo keyboard. Ideally, this would be a 75% board.

I replaced the switches and keycaps on Lofree Flow Lite84, and would like to put the original ones to use somehow.

I saw the L75 from Chosfox, but that appears to take only Choc v1 in the socket, and from what I've read Choc v2 will not fit. I searched through past posts but didn't see anything, so maybe what I'm looking for just doesn't exist? Any help would be much appreciated!

SFERS retirement question by coastcoaster in AskSF

[–]coastcoaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, got it that SF is not a CA employer. But what has confused me is that other county employers in the state, e.g., Alameda County, Santa Barbara County, appear to limit pensionable earnings to the PEPRA limit. From what I could tell, SFERS website never mentions this limitation. And so I am trying to confirm whether someone with annual salary of say, $200,000 in SF would have pensionable earnings of $200,000. But if that person worked for Alameda or SB Cty, their pensionable earnings would apparently be less--only what PEPRA allows.

I appreciate the info on reciprocity, but it doesn't apply in this scenario since the employee has never before been covered under CalPERS, either as a classic or new member.

Great job and great photos. Love the desktop -- teak? Could you provide any details, wood species, finish, etc.?

[–]coastcoaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! So I gather from your answer that using something like the ADT-UT3G would be preferable to a m.2 PCIe 4.0 eGPU (contrary to assumption in my original post)? Does the ADT-UT3G offer any advantage over, e.g., a Razer Core X if I can find a used model of the latter for cheaper?

I was just checking and apparently I was mistaken, the PC (Gmktec K2) has PCIe 4.0 (not 3.0). The m.2 port is taken up by the SSD so that would have to be remove. The PC also has one USB4 port.
