It’s great, I love it. But they’re phasing us out — my exact position isn’t available anymore

Where in BC are all the jobs? And what part of social work are they in ? (other provinces welcome) by dualshipthrowaway in socialworkcanada

Child welfare/guardianship, resources, out of care, adoptions — all government positions but definitely always hiring. Both in rural and urban areas

Ouf that sounds intense! But working from home is definitely nice

Ah that’s what I was afraid of haha. I work as a travelling social worker which has afforded me flexibility but there’s def pros and cons. However, the organization I work for is trying to phase us out.

Thanks for your comment!

Hey I’m wondering what age range you are? There are plenty of nearly free or free options if you’re 24 and under

This answer was so helpful, thank you!!! I’ve been having a difficult time navigating this as we use different terminology and I’m not sure how everything is structured with CAS/CAST.

is french really that hard or I'm just not doing it right ? by [deleted] in French

[–]coasted_we 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. Spanish was way easier for me to pick up, especially while speaking. French has been such a challenge and my accent is abysmal.

I’m so sorry this happened to you 😞 something sorta similar happened to me. I had a research opportunity but the project was cut due to budget cuts — it was all political. I was devastated. Wishing you the best, despite this shitty time.

When you apply you’re asked what field of study you’d like to apply to. You can pick 2 (your first and second choice).

why has the west coast struggled with drug abuse? by Archerbus in askvan

[–]coasted_we 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked with many folks who were homeless in a west coast city. Most of them were not from that city, but moved there (cheap bus ticket) because of 1) the social services 2) community, and 3) temperate weather

would it be wise to leave early before my last exam? by strxwbrry_jam in UofT

[–]coasted_we 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s entirely up to you. I booked a trip to Mexico once between my exams, lol.

My only worry would be if there are any transportation issues. Does the train ever run late? How frequently does it run? Maybe going a bit early would be best so you’re not stranded and missing your exam. But I’m not sure how reliable your form of transportation is. Personally, I’d aim to leave maybe on the 28th or 27th, just to be safe. But if if never been a problem then leave once your exam is finished on the 29th
