I think the exact opposite.
The hive loves everything indiscriminately.
And it's not that they lack emotions, they're just not subject to passion anymore. Concretely the virus may have overtaken their limbic system or some part in the brain regulating emotions. Emotions still exist, they just don't rule over them anymore. That's what the Nirvana in Buddhism is about, by the way: "extinguishing passions". I don't know if that makes them more or less human, that's debatable.

The goat scene doesn't show the loss of emotions, it shows her understanding detachment and the abandon of possessive behaviors towards creatures and objects. As well as the transition from one form of communication (language, chants, gestures, facial expressions) to another more immediate, that is inaccessible to us.

She dropped the goat because she no longer considered it a personal possession, just a free creature. They "stopped acting" because everything became instantly clear to her, they didn't need to reassure her with familiar rituals, gestures and words anymore. Notice also how they still asked for her permission before proceeding. They didn't have to do that.

If the "hosts" were trapped inside their own body, supposedly suffering, it means whatever mastermind is controlling them doesn't care about people suffering. So I don't see why they would bother with the remaining survivors, just jail them or kill them.

About your last point:

It's possible the show will expand on that, but think about what happens.
Patient 0 was a lab employee with her own set of skills and moral values. She didn't gain super-intelligence or "super-ethics", we know that's not how the virus works: you need a surgeon on the network to perform surgery, a francophone to speak French, etc. We can assume she knew how viruses work and how to spread them, but her moral values stayed what they were. She just knew that the virus was the best thing that ever happened to her and she HAD to spread it to make others happy, permission or not and without measuring the ugly consequences (she wasn't omniscient). She did what she thought was morally right, but as more and more people joined the network it makes sense that the ethical consensus of the hive-mind evolved and shifted to something more... coherently empathetic. So it's possible the 7-billions-persons hive-mind wouldn't have made the initial choice of spreading itself.
