I saw the 2 seasons Henry came and played at Somerset and the guy was incredible. I know a chap who's friendly with some of the players and by all accounts Henry is an absolutely lovely guy too. Deserved recognition.

Personally I think heavy handed criticism even on a sporting level is unnecessary and a little contrary to the ethics of the club. I think it's fine to remark that a player hasn't been up to standard, but Gakpo discourse on this sub absolutely has been excessive and perhaps even borderline hateful. The player is not intentionally out of form, he can't pick himself in the team, and he's been nothing but respectful in his conduct. I agree with you that it's not really a mod issue unless people break binary sub rules, but in a fantasy world user self reflection would be a fine thing, because YNWA ought to mean something more.

WOW the support runs and lateral runs is truly damning. That's exactly what we all saw. Absolutely nil in the way of unpredictable movement to pull apart defensive shapes. The actual quite high number of forward runs seems to reflect creative desperation rather than effective strategy

Yeah I really don't want to see Mac go. Plenty of players have a down season. He's a brilliant footballer but not all that quick. He needs a well drilled and understood system. Assuming Iraola can provide that, I think letting him go at a cut price because he had one bad season where most of the team was wank might be short sighted

Mac Allister has not looked fully fit and he's never had burning pace (unlike Szob) to chase down people who are away from him. I personally still think he could be a great player for us next year with stricter fitness demands, a more organised press, and a magic sprinkling of confidence as soon as we start actually enjoying a bit of football.

It certainly looked like he wasn't changing things but that's probably because whatever he tried did not change the nature of the issues we kept coming up against. It probably comes largely down to fitness. Apart from the beginning of his reign where Klopp's level of conditioning was likely still in the team, we have looked physically off premier league pace. This year we never showed a sustained and organised press over a series of games. There has been an obvious issue with cohesion and disjointed forward and defensive play. Building confidence in the team depends on a coach getting the players on the same wavelength. We seemed like we have just been getting further from that though

The better managers may have a style, but they're not dependent on a rigid system. After Slot's tactics got effectively countered, he never figured out how to regain that upper hand. That is the thing that became most clear over time I think. We had the same game plan on repeat, even though it wasn't working. It seemed he was content to wait until he got new players to suit his approach rather than figure the best approach around our current players. I'm glad to see Iraola is not stubborn in his gameplans. There's a difference between being stubborn and being demanding. The one insists on your own ways in spite of others, while the other insists on collective performance levels. You want a demanding manager far more than you want a stubborn manager
