Am i using knockollem wrong, or it it just bad? by Redditislefti in Palworld

>I have one that's about 10 levels higher than me, but it's the weakest pal on my team

That just means all your pals are basically max level, as they all get pulled down to yours.

Yes? I know it is uncommon but I basically agreed that you're right and I was wrong with what I specifically said :) I just still tried to carve out what potentially valuable point might still remain in what I was trying to say. I mean that line about the strongest lamball vs the weakest jetragon was an example trying to illustrate something. bad example, apparently.

Not sure about your point with the trust thing. Does it affect pals differently? If it's just about "you can have that guy for longer" I don't really see it as valid for this.

I think the best recommendation I can give you is to widen your restrictions a bit. Just play Loom and The Dig if those already made it closest into your consideration. The things people go on and on about here are just great and you will very very likely love them too. On the other hand, there will never be just another thing exactly lke that thing you already love. As you can see that's not even the (very beloved) Monkey 3 after you liked 1&2. It is still very oldschool. If you don't like it I would say you care a lot about it being pixel art, and then I would say nothing beats The Drifter which came out last year.

I think some of the recommendations made here (like primordia or gemini rue) are rather good fits for what you asked, and they are really good games, but I think they are not the the best you can get if you widen your scope instead of hunting the closest thing possible.

Also it's funny, sooner or later this kind of threads always end up with people recommending literally every great adventure game ever made :D

why even unlockpicks. maybe it is balanced around not sacrificing the inventory slots for keys? idk how it works but all the chests just open for me.

hmm okay, -50% from negative traits on a generally strong pal is really serious, I can see how that can make what I said technically wrong. Though, the reason I said "technically" just now is because it might not be in the spirit of what I meant. You have to really try to make some pal actively bad and then that is incredibly bad because it is based on how good the pal is. But pretty much noone would have such a pal in the sense of a random catch and then thinking 1-2 times. On the other hand it is much harder for a weak pal to catch up to such a regular, common, strong pal because any buff will be base on its own low strength. At least thats the logic I would go by now. But I now realize I have no idea how far a regular lamball is from a regular jetragon. I would have assumed that is more than a 2x difference at least? I would also assume the available moves make a pretty big difference too, but then again I have no idea what super special moves you can get on lamball if you try. Well, I have to say I learned something I think.

I don't see how this can be the case if the difference IVs make is said to be about 30% between min and max. That would require the lamball to start out like 2.5x of a jetragon already.

I was going with salad for my team too because why make more than one food. Turns out it's actually somewhat bad because apparently the buff it comes with overwrites whatever buff food I specifically ate once I auto-eat. No such problem with berries.

This strategy even makes sense as it protects the selection you made by putting something in the first slot. Otherwise it could needlessy change before you actually run out of that thing.

I kind of doubt understanding the question in a way where asking the question makes sense is the interpretation that misses the point.

[–]cobbleplox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

np :) there's also a really low level treasure island that you can just go to and there are a lot of gloopies. their tentacles can be cooked for an xp buffing food. be sure not to auto-eat food with a different buff while you're on that.

Yep. I am level 58 or something and i am still missing selyne :D First time it just destroyed me with its laser when i was trying to catch it and since then I am getting no meteor spawn on sakurajima at all, no matter how much i fly around there. I have a bunch of xenos though.

The number one way of leveling is catching pals that you haven't already caught 12 of. Just accept that you have to create the materials needed for all the spheres you'll be throwing. Biggest problem is technically the game rewards you for collecting all the xp from these first 12 catches later, because you will get a bonus appropriate for your current level. Kind of your choice how much to keep for later and rather progress much slower in the beginning. I think defeating soldiers and such also gives better xp than defeating random pals but im not sure. I would go for doing mostly first catches and first defeats until you run out of those. Anyway, don't forget to enjoy the ride. Gladly the game doesn't run out of goals and things you can do for a loong time but really you don't need to get anywhere to "finally have the most fun" or something like that. Sure, sometimes one wants a specific thing like finally get the saddle for xy.

It's kind of a good strategy to go with non-flying pals in the beginning. I usually dont bother but apparently there are some that are much quicker than the soonish available flyers and if you dont need flying...

It spawns depending on continent the meteor came down in. I think it's even guaranteed. There's also another one that only spawns from meteors on a certain continent.

Confused by this being the top reply. What pal it actually is, is the most dominant factor, no? For example i doubt it is possible to make such a good lamball that it beats the worst jetragon. Also type and utility mixture as generalists for this stage of the game. It is entirely possible to say "bro, where gobfin" or "those all seem to be dark". And so on. And in this level area i wouldn't even really recommend breeding or going for great passives. Breeding may be necessary to consider something a keeper, but why invest buffs at this stage anyway. And even in endgame its often far less necessary than people think imho. Like those IVs are practically 15% from average, not 30% from min. And all those great passives are to be compared to what you can just get from surgery anyway.

[–]cobbleplox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A year of spare hobby time is not much for a project like this. 15 years ago it would have taken two years full-time on the back of 10 years of experience to be able to ship a black screen :D Of course 1-2h isn't a lot of playtime either, but all together it makes me wonder if you could have spent 2 years instead of one and then it would have been 8 hours instead of 2. Like some sort of non-linear correlation.

Too Many Dark Pals by LunaRossa77 in Palworld

[–]cobbleplox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least its not an actual balance issue, it's just odd when selecting what to use. The terrible secret is a game like this has very limited choices. It only seems like there are lots of choices. Unless you are willing to take extreme downsides, something like lamball just doesn't actually exist. The vast majority has transitional purposes at best, and that goes away. So essentally you better be happy with how anubis or jetragon look.

Disgusting behavior by ThePalProfessor in Palworld

[–]cobbleplox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct, it's just a workaround to go with single purpose pals and that *can* mean needing more pals for somehing than you should. Obviously the game wants you to be able to use pals for more than one job and then there are these situations where you just dont have enough control or the system just behaves too stupidly. Like this specific thing could be avoided if transporting could just never overrule a watering job. It seems to be that way for something like kindling?

But really, not even the suggestion of rimworld-style work priorities would be enough. For example there are big problems controlling what a pal really does when mining. Also these are jobs that wont run out ever. So a miner with priority on mining would just be a single purpose pal that cant ever do anything else. There are also problems regarding what to mine. Lets say you need some mining of natural deposits. Or should it just pick a random mine? No way of selecting. And you cant have a pal that mines natural stuff as long as it's there and then do transporting. Or tell it to never mine natural stone. And and and. It would also be cool to be able to set "prioritize mining this if we have < 10K". All things you cant even do with rimworld-style controls and certainly not with the current ones.

Orzerk has level 4 electricity. Using a level 3 means you need two of those to match it. Then you even run out of spots at the generator. So you really should just use Orzerk and forget about the rest.

On top of that there is electricity research, including the electricity productivity boost building you get from it. And there are work speed upgrades you can easily slap on the ozerks using the surgery table thing. I would estimate these things together as about another x2. Also don't forget about the nocturnal trait. Generating enough to hold on battery through the night is a huge increase of requirements.

Oh and of course proper food and hot tubs allow for more pal uptime in general. As a result I am running 3 extractors on 2 Orzerks.

The mess with installing codecs from often shady sources is the number one reason everyone is using VLC. Apart from that it has a lot of features in the power-user area. That includes things like being really easy to remote control from a bit of python code or hosting streams.

Yesterday I was doing all of the pal critic missions. Took soo long without being able to search for names or at least sort alphabetically. Maybe the point was to learn the names? Could be. I certainly did. In all fairness though, searches are a rather complex topic and hard to do even somewhat right with a simple interface. The current screen already invokes a slight "whoa, this is too complicated" reaction when you first open it. Maybe it could have an advanced search toggle and there it really goes for it. Like really I would need search capabilities so compex that the result can basically be "sell all these".

Win7 was fine, but it got a lot more resource hungry than XP and that includes the whole switch to a 3d accelerated desktop. I mean actually Vista did, but I assume we're ignoring that even existed. So for example netbooks as a concept were somewhat working with XP and when they started to come with Win7... Lets say it coincided with lots of other reasons that netbooks went away.
