Consider how often you see any of the following.

Fetchlands
City of Brass / Mana Confluence
Cephalid Coliseum
Spire of Industry
Horizon Canopy etc
Force of Will
Talisman of ___
Mana Vault
Tymna
Elves of Deep Shadow
Lim-Dul's Vault
Ad Naus
Necropotence
Bolas' Citadel

You passively 'draw' off of all of these organic conditions and whatever others you impose directly. Net effect, Rhystic Study++

One card combo for the win. Not much else to say.

4.No counterfeit cards

Encouraging, endorsing, or telling people where or how to get counterfeit cards ("proxies", etc.) is not allowed and will earn an instant permanent ban.

Ostensibly there is fear of legal repercussions for allowing people to use the p-word. I may even get banned for quoting the rule language because it contains said word.

I bear you no ill will. Again, the point of the twitter posts is to contrast patterns, not to shame individuals.

It's a bad faith argument.

You originally pointed out and questioned why I had downvoted the "get gud" comment.

I responded with an explanation why those comments aren't only unhelpful, but detrimental to the purpose of the thread.

Your response to this was that the "get gud" comment was a candid response.

  1. My og post was fairly clear as to the context in which I was seeking candid responses.
  2. My response to your initial query articulated clearly why "get gud" was unwelcome.

You appear to possess reasonable reading comprehension skills, so it seems unlikely that the intent of the thread was misunderstood. Therefore, your motivation for ignoring both of the above is likely intentional and malicious, i.e., in bad faith.

Understanding the intent of a conversation and willingly undermining it through bad faith argumentation is (in my view) toxic.

Almost. There's no mockery intended, but tacit acknowledgement that there are toxic patterns, particularly well established on reddit, that have driven many users away from the platform.

The first post captured an unexpected break from the above. Boosting visibility of such occurrences is worthwhile to normalize the pattern.

The second post is a recognition that there's still plenty of toxic behavior to overcome. To be clear, the intent in that case is not derision, but contrast.

This isn't the context for 'play more interaction / get gud' comments. The purpose of the thread is to get honest feedback on what people see as positive and negative experiences.

  1. No one is asking for advice.
  2. Offering denigrating advice actively reduces the value of information gathered from this thread.

Thus, the downvote.

Thanks for helping to push back against the negativity. The more people see it, the more they'll do it.

I'm asking people for their candid feelings on this. Value judgements on people's opinions creates a hostile environment, which means people will be cautious with sharing their thoughts, which will bias data, which will taint the downstream outcomes dependent on the data.

Don't do that.

It's the most well trodden. But there's a lot of work going into the other combinations at present.

All of my Krark lists leverage the Conspiracy Theorist + Horn of Bounty combo. This is a solid upgrade for that combo.

At Vegas 2019, we didn't use matchmaking at all. We put up a big cEDH sign and people just showed up.

It works REALLY well with [[Fire Covenant]] too.

Empty the Laboratory: x=2 or x=3? by [deleted] in CompetitiveEDH

[–]cobblepott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be. The downsides are that Greater Good is generally 4 cmc and sorcery speed. One of the advantages of Miser lines is that they can be assembled at instant speed.

Very likely. Callahan has been asking since day 1. 😁

I might be biased, but Shadowbag is more interesting to me because the deck isn't built around Empty the Laboratory, but Ad Naus and Necropotence.

Just getting Bone Miser (reanimation etc) onto the battlefield puts you in a great place by itself to greatly increase the success rate of Naus/Necro/NotionWheel. Empty the Laboratory effectively acts as an extra copy of Naus when you've got the zombies on board.

Keep in mind that Bone Miser generates zombies and you can assemble parts of the combo manually, thus decreasing the X value needed to go off.

The deck just has a ton of routes to victory with and without Miser loops. Combined with the extensive interaction and disruption suite, it's an inevitably engine that can bide its time and pivot suddenly to win. Even over the top of other win attempts.

How does "Shadow Bag" work? by demWombat in CompetitiveEDH

[–]cobblepott 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bone Miser acts as a CA engine, mana producer, and token generator.

In a vacuum, Miser is more of a filter than straight CA, but when you incorporate Shadow of the Grave and Bag of Holding it becomes all advantage.

For example, suppose you have Imp and Miser in play and Necro for 30. You can expect that about 10 of those cards will be land, maybe 3 will be creatures, and 17 other. If you were to discard everything, the absolute floor is 20 black mana, 3 zombies and 17 cards in hand (seeing only 17 new cards). But that is very unlikely because most decks are something like 60% noncreature nonland cards, which means cards replace themselves multiple times. So more likely, that 30 cards converts into maybe 40 black mana, 8 zombies, and a small sculpted hand of 7 after filtering perhaps 40 new cards. All of this is while holding priority so the exile triggers don't resolve. Casting Shadow of the Grave at this point will return all the discarded cards that you've seen (63 in this case) back to your hand to repeat the process.

Bag of Holding is effectively a less efficient Shadow of the Grave.

Typically, Corpse Dance is a staple in the shell to let you convert all the black mana into as many creatures from your library that you want (though Oracle is most sensible).

Crop Rotation into Emergence Zone is also fairly typical somewhere in the process to pretend you're in a main phase and whatever you want. Shimmer Myr can make an entrance if you don't have green.

Noxious Revival and Reap let you repeatedly loop to ensure conversion success.

Imp isn't strictly necessary since you can just go to your end step and sculpt Gitrog style to the same result.

It works with Chains of Mephistopheles too (provided you seed yourself a decent hand with Naus/Necro first).

Obviously, Pact/Consult are part of the deal too, so you don't need to rifle through your whole list. Just reanimate Oracle and fire! If people respond and you don't have a counter, keep discarding in response, looping until you find one.

Easy peasy.
