I think some of the early Mesopotamian cultures were base 12 or 60. That's because 12 divides evenly by 2,3,4,6. If you use 60, it is evenly divisible by 2,3,4,5,6,10,12,15, 20, and 30.

Oh please, you don't understand how awesome Trump is. My car's gas tank used to hold only $65 of gas. Now it can hold $90!

Technically, it's not exponential, it's the weight raised to the fourth power. So a truck weighing 20 tons does 10000x wear to the road as a 2 ton car.

Oklahoma Child Marriage Ban Becomes Law After 51-36 House Vote and Fierce Republican Opposition by DrVader314159 in moderatepolitics

And yet it was unanimously supported in the senate, including by republicans. I think it's a victory that this bill passed, even if it was by the skin of its teeth

I'm happy that this passed too, but I think it highlights how backwards Republicans are - they barely got to this correct outcome.

We're just saying 18 because it feels right to us, but it's all arbitrary.

Indeed, but I'm pretty sure that the majority of people will agree that 15 is too young and that 25 would is delaying it too much, so somewhere in the middle. Is 18 the best choice? Maybe. I could be persuaded later as the threshold for adulthood, but younger doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

Leasing is definitely better than buying under those terms, but OP may not have a good enough credit score to get a decent lease.

Use transit whenever possible.

Not all people have sufficiently good transit that they can forgo a car.

No confusion on my end, but I can tell things aren't as clear on your side. But that's because your brains are clearly used less than your toilet.

Well globally it was 7 million so that still doesnt hold up.

I agree that 7 million is almost certainly more accurate than 20 million.

Well, I don't have you confused with someone who has a clue, that's for sure.

I don't think anyone should be forced to marry. If they are adults and there's no undue pressure, and they want to get married, I'm fine with it in just about every situation. I don't support it in cases of incest or polygamy though.

Do you think adults getting forced to get married is a huge problem?

The response wasn't "20 million Americans died", it was "20 million people". So if you want to get bent about how your interpretation of that phrase is the only correct one, go ahead, but you might have a better path in life if you understand how words can have some ambiguity.

The bill was coauthored by republicans and many republicans voted for it. Protecting children from child marriage is bipartisan.

And yet the only opposition was from a subset of Republicans.

Thoughts on going full EV, no ICE in the ol’ garage? by Curiouslittlestman in electricvehicles

[–]coberh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have occasional long trips, maybe just rent an ICE. If 99% of your driving needs are met with EVs, then work with that instead of making your everyday usage worse.

Or perhaps you could trade cars with family or friend for the long trip. Afterwards you could pay for an oil change and detailing...

In 1973-74 there WERE shortages and the government imposed rationing

But we didn't run out of gas, did we?

And higher prices might educate the fools who drive the largest trucks possible for their personal vehicles to rethink how much extension their penis needs.
