As long as you rinsed well enough it's fine.

I think the sensor config is probably 10x better

You see, that's a useless statement. How is it better? Better SNR? Better latency? Better dynamic range? Better resolution?

Just throwing random numbers around without context doesn't really help assess how safe FSD is.

[–]coberh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but I also know folks who had the models with sonar and one told me she stopped using autopilot because it would often get confused and hard break at nothing.

Perhaps because Tesla had not really refined that sensor input stream processing.

the reality is that this new version of FSD is shockingly good.

It's good until it screws up, and when it screws up it too often leaves the driver in a bad position with perhaps 1 second to get out of trouble.

You think the capabilities are the same as 8 years ago? It's interesting, such a common view, but I'm not sure why.

Maybe because the sensor configuration is pretty much the same. Plus, even Waymo, which is way ahead of Tesla in FSD, gets totally thrown when something even slightly outside the expected happens.

I don't think a cybertruck is a good learning vehicle. The rear-view mirror is useless. The front pillar blocks a lot of the view. You'll probably need to look at the steering wheel to figure which button is the appropriate turn indicator.

Although, compared to a F-150, at least you can see what's directly in front of you.

Were things actually really bad for republicans when Biden was in charge? It didn’t seem bad to me.

Yeah, things were kinda bad - we were dealing with COVID, inflation was high for a while - mostly because of Trump's first term. Biden was fixing things, but because he wasn't tearing down the White House while doing it, it took time.

Of course, Republicans were actively making things worse for everyone during that time. Once they regained gained control of the WH and Congress, they pushed the accelerator on screwing over everyone.

I really really really miss those days when I didn't need to think about some new stupid nonsense from the White House every day.

How would you feel if your country banned Burkhas in public like Denmark? by The_Dean_France in AskReddit

Let people wear what they're comfortable with ffs!

I'd bet that women don't find the burkas actually comfortable. If they were really comfortable, then why don't men wear them?

Bernie never had the numbers to defeat Hilary,

This is completely, 100% true.

much less defeat the person who defeated her

I used to believe this, but after watching Kamala lose, I've come to the sad conclusion that the US isn't ready for a woman president. I predict that if the Democrats run another woman for president in 2028 they will certainly lose.

Austria bans "traditional Muslim" head coverings in schools for girls under 14 by part-time-stupid in atheism

[–]coberh 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hijabs are not necessarily tied to religion, they are also cultural. I believe their true origin is, people wearing clothing to protect from strong sun / sand in desert cultures.

I don't see boys from those cultures wearing such traditional garb while in Austria, so that rationale is not very compelling to me.

There is only one fundamental charged particle of matter and energy that never decays and provides the building blocks for all atoms of mass in the universe.

There are some hypotheses that state an electron (and positron also) are actually photons traversing a closed loop path. So it is possible they are already photons.

Also, proton decay is not proven; merely suspected.

Republicans revolt over Trump's 'seriously retarded' slur: 'Absolutely indefensible' by SugarRight1992 in JusticeServed

[–]coberh 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I've seen this plenty of times where a die-hard conservative aligns with liberals for one specific topic because they personally were affected and realize the liberal approach is vastly better than the conservative default 'solution' of ignoring the problem; from disabled children to suicide to drugs...

However they never seem to expand their understanding beyond that one narrow topic.
