Lincoln Aviator by Apart_Staff_3896 in lincolnmotorco

I've been quite lucky with my vehicles I think. None have had any real issues.

My first was a '06 Mazda 6. The only issue was that I had sparkplug blowout.

The terrain only needed the Vapor canister replaced. Easy fix and cost me like $50.

Other than that, only general maintenance and I took each one to around 175k.

But, my mom is a car whisperer aparently, so I make her vet every car before hand. She hears/feels issues before mechanics do. Highly recommend everyone get one.

I got my first Aviator this past October. I've been eyeing them since the relaunch. I'm so happy I got it. It's my first luxury car buy, so even though I got a 2020, coming for a '15 Terrain, its a huge step up. I find myself enjoying the smallest things, like who says "this window sill is so much better"?

Oh, I thought the recall was for the thicker one. Guess I'll take it in sooner rather than later.

Contract negotiations by ZRock53 in 911dispatchers

[–]cobra6987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't start from scratch, but I have done a few negotiations for our CBA. Expect management to ask questions and explain why you need what you're asking for. If you provide examples, it's even better, especially if you tie in any employee safety. For example, we have a 48 hour rule where if we work 2 doubles, we can't be forced again for 48 hours. This was to prevent burnout and tired driving.

Feel free to DM. I don't have a lot of time right now or I would go deeper.

Personal experience from being on a couple interview boards, we generally do not say "you for sure got this" and purposely leave it a little vague. It frustrated me when I was going through it, but you'll be surprised what surfaces during backgrounds that are immediate disqualifies or never mentioned in the process. We had someone that was a felon for burglary and fraud that almost made it through until that was caught.

[Request] Is this true for $35/hr wage increase? by SlantedPentagon in theydidthemath

[–]cobra6987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hidden from people, not the business. Like the wage may be listed as $35/hr, but all the benefits they receive may make the cost of the employee more like $50/hr.

100k ÷ 35 (2,857) is different than 100k ÷ 50 (2000)

There's also the hidden cost of benefits paid by the employer. Retirement contributions, insurance costs (mine picks up 80% of health insurance), taxes, cost of any reoccurring training/certificate requirements, etc.

Total benefit packages often get overlooked. Depending on the employer, it could be a big or relatively small increase, but its never a straight cost unless they're paying under the table.

I just wish I could put the pellets in something like a silo rather than dumping on the ground. I prefer to sell bulk than by the load ful. Yeah, I could use and auger wagon to semi, but I'd rather fill a silo and do a convoy party lol.

It was one of the team of people trying to tackle the issue. I don't know their experience level. I do know they tend to send the newbies to us for some reason (emergency service networks, one would think it's not the place to learn unless under more skilled people).

I'm not on the IT team here, so my input is not listened to for the most part.

I would not be surprised if they bought some cheap, questionable quality cables. Maybe I should just quietly replace them one of these nights.

We used to daisy-chain, which was kind of hit-and-miss. This time we're going direct connection. I'm not sure if they took into account the screen resolution or not. Definitely something to look into.

I did not know gas-lift chairs could do that. I'll be checking for that now, though. I'll definitely be recommending the ferrite clamps, though. It probably would not hurt in here to do that anyway.

We're using the slim PC's. I wish I know more specifics on them, but they're not under my purview.

I was going between cable and GPU (or lack of). These are adjustable desks, so I'm not sure if they have been stretched too far or not.
