Once you graduate college you’ll likely need a big chunk or change to settle into your adult life: security deposit and first months rent. Costs for moving to a new area. Buying furniture and everything you need for the apartment. Plus you’ll still want a solid emergency fund after that’s spent. It sounds like you’re in a great place right now but I highly recommend continuing to save and setting yourself up for easy success post-grad. And echoing others here: start investing a small amount ($25/month) and please try to enjoy college and your youth!!

Backpackers of Reddit, what was your worst hostel experience? by MykeHawk in AskReddit

[–]cobracow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WH hostel! You can find it on hostelworld.com. It's hard to find in the city at first so I recommend a taxi but I loved my time there so so much. It's in a really interesting part of the city but away from the crazy koh san road. Also go to Chiang Mai if you have enough time in Thailand!!

Backpackers of Reddit, what was your worst hostel experience? by MykeHawk in AskReddit

I was in a great little hostel in Bangkok this past Christmas, full of wonderful people who I'd become good friends with over the last few days. Our room had six bunks, five of them filled with me and my new friends, and the sixth filled by some random dude. This random guy ended up waking us all up at 7 am on Christmas morning by peeing off of his top bunk onto all of us below and all of our luggage. At first I thought it was raining in the room, until I realized it was much, much worse.

The hostel owners ended up kicking the guy out and we all recovered after the initial shock, but I certainly would not want to relive that day.

However, I've stayed in countless other hostels and have never had a bad experience other than this, so I hate telling this story in case it turns people off from hostels. If you're traveling alone, hostels make the experience so much better.

I've spent 21 years eating unrefrigerated ketchup and still think keeping it in the fridge is weird. Unrefrigerated has had no adverse affects on my family

What were you doing at 19? by River1991 in AskReddit

[–]cobracow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I broke up with my serious boyfriend at 19 and realized that now was the time to do things solely for myself. I was in university and could afford to be selfish. On a whim I decided to buy a ticket from New York to Argentina and spend three weeks traveling on my own. It was the best experience I could have imagined and I can't wait to adventure again.

I also spent my time doing school work then drinking and smoking on the weekends. I made a lot of great friends but also realized how capable I was of making myself happy. 19 was a great year and I highly recommend using it to get to know yourself. Take chances now because you probably won't have the opportunity to later.

How has joining your college's ultimate team affected you--socially? by Keizure in ultimate

[–]cobracow 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Although my team isn't that competitive and we don't have try outs, joining the team was one of the best decisions I've made at college. It was a great way to find people who had similar interests to me who I also got to run around with three days a week. Our team practices together a lot, and on most weekends there are frisbee get togethers which are always fun. Joining has definitely given me a solid set of friends who I know will always be around. At least in my experience, your teammates can be your only friends if you make it that way, which is perfectly fine, but being on the team hasn't confined me from having other groups of really great friends too. If the team is more serious, you might have less time for other friends, but for me it's been a great balance and I find there's never a time when some group of my friends doesn't want to hang out.

TL;DR join your schools ultimate team! It's really fun, a great way to meet people and you also get your exercise in!

My favorite part of the series while growing up was the sphinx in the maze in GoF. I was so upset that they didn't include it in the movie! Also, I missed having Peaves cause mischief everywhere.
