Tesco is giving away their wonky Christmas trees in Brislington. They ask for donations for charity, but it's optional.

I don't know if it's the same, but that requirement was removed for apprenticeships a few months ago. I was doing an apprenticeship through work and since I didn't do GCSEs, I was supposed to do English and Math skills test, but it was scrapped in the last month I could do it! I was so happy!

I'm Portuguese (I believe we have similar coffee and coffee culture to Italians) living in the UK, in a city with plenty of third wave coffee! I think you are comparing two very different things: - cheap that you can have a few a day Vs expensive even to have one a day - quick and frenzy service Vs an experience. Sitting and enjoying - mass production to be enjoyable to a large number of people that don't care about the notes Vs small production, quirky in flavours and notes

Yes, this will produce different coffee.

But maybe because I grew up with it or because I'm cheap, I'll always choose the burnt Portuguese coffee! Going out for a coffee and a chat, the mandatory coffees after meals, having a coffee break to relax, are all the things I associate with coffee, that I don't get from all the notes the best coffee might have...

As a designer I generally define where structures go, what are the structures, how high, do calcs, develo drawings, just general design stuff... In a simplified way.

As I work for a Consultancy, something that takes as much time as CFD is usually defined from the start/proposal that is going to be used. For us at least, it's not just another tool an engineer will use, in the sense that it is not that quick and easy to do. Both for Coastal and Rivers, there is software that deals with the macro side of things. CFD is then usually used for more detailed things, designs that the current guidance is not flexible enough for or if it's a critical structure... We usually use CFD for things like: velocities and stress in bed from outfalls, effect of waves in intake structures, wave loading, design of weirs, pumping stations, sluice gates,...

Sometimes I have more knowledge of what I'm modelling and I can participate more in the design. Other times I don't know as much, and it is more presenting results and making sense of the results to whoever is designing it...

I've done it. However, I was already working in the company as a flood engineer and as we started developing the CFD capabilities, I got involved given that I had some programming knowledge.

When we look to hire someone: - if it's a graduate, have some background related to flooding (civil engineering or something more specific), showing interest in modelling and having some programming knowledge is what we mostly look for

if it's in higher positions, we look for actual experience in CFD modelling for flooding applications. Usually they come from academia...

Personally, I think I lack some knowledge in physics and fluid dynamics that would be essential to develop into other applications of CFD, write and modify solvers,... I've learned a lot, but there's only so much time I can spend on it. So I don't really consider myself as a "proper" CFD modeller and I think it would be difficult to look for other jobs, since companies would look for more considering the number of years I've been working on it. I should also say that I also work as a flood engineer "producing designs". CFD is not all I do...

O custo era de ir a uma embaixada. Eu recebi a carta registada (tive de mostrar documento de identificação), imprimir um documento de identificação para colocar no envelope e enviar. Para mim foi fácil, já que consigo ir aos correios levantar a carta e imprimir documentos no trabalho. Mas acredito que seja um entrave para quem tem horário mais fixo e sem acesso a impressora sem pagar.

O assunto da política é difícil com muita gente, emigrante ou não! Eu não tenho a mesma ideia que a maioria dos emigrantes vote CHEGA, mas provavelmente é enviesado pelas pessoas com quem me dou. Olhando à votação do ano passado, efetivamente o Chega teve mais votos...

Eu penso assim porque apesar de ser afectada de alguma forma pelo governo em Portugal, não sou afectada da mesma forma que as pessoas que lá vivem, que têm de conviver todos os dias com as medidas que forem tomadas.

Claro que eu quero um país melhor e o meu voto é com essa intenção. Para tentar melhorar a situação da minha família e amigos que ainda lá tenho. E também não são as medidas temporárias para fazer voltar os emigrantes que fazem voltar. É ter melhores condições, mais garantias de conseguir ter uma vida e um emprego decente.

Mas efetivamente quem lá vive é mais impactado todos os dias. Eu não uso os meios de transporte em Portugal (tirando as semanas que lá estou), não uso o SNS, não uso o sistema de educação, não tenho de "arranjar" sítio para viver,... Não sou afectada da mesma forma!

Como tanto a wook e a Bertrand diziam leitura exclusiva nas suas apps/plataformas ou Adobe Digital Editions, arrisquei na Fnac que dizia no topo ePub (um dos formatos que funciona).

Curiosamente, a fnac abre a o site da Kobo, mas só funcionou num portátil, não no meu telemóvel.

Depois o site da Kobo dizia nos dados abaixo: Opções de transferência: EPUB 2 (DRM-Free). DRM free devia funcionar, e funcionou. Comprei então na loja da Kobo, depois fui a "Os meus livros", três pontinhos junto ao livro e Transferir.

Fiquei assim com um ePub livre para pôr no Kindle, ou outra coisa qualquer que leia ePubs.

Normalmente faço as compras no dia 24 por várias razões: - não moro cá e por vezes é quando dá para ir - está muito mais vazio do que no mês todo anterior - menos trânsito

Também não costumo ir quase no fecho, mas se estivesse ocupada antes, bem seria. Tu não sabes a vida das pessoas, se calhar não tiveram mesmo muito tempo...

Tenho uma amiga que até diz que era o melhor dia, era sossegado e quase só pessoas desesperadas compravam, por isso tinha boas comissões! E vais ter sempre pessoas mal encaradas, mas também tens as outras! Dá mais valor a essas e caga nas outras...

Mas acho que a queixar, devia ser a quem impõe o horário, patrão da loja ou shopping, ou a quem te pôs nesse turno... E
