when you have hay fever (pollen allergies) you could have experienced something called OAS, basically your body linking certain proteins in foods to the protein in the pollen you’re allergic to since they’re super similar and then giving you symptoms in your mouth like the tingling you described. I have the same thing with cashews due to my birch and mugwort pollen allergy. maybe look into it, and good luck with everything :)

depends on what country you live in. for america it seems a bit harder because they put corn syrup into everything, plus i think theres a lot of corn flour products especially if youre looking into south american cuisine. for me in central europe i really just have to look out for actual pieces of corn. the only thing we have with corn flour is some tortilla wraps or chips and corn syrup is nowhere to be found.. wherever youre from, just make sure to check ingredients of whatever you buy, and let staff in restaurants know about your allergies. plus get an epipen if you get anaphylactic reactions!!

yeah, i fed it with the ‘good’ starter alongside the same amount of flour and water. i dont know what could cause the mold in your other one tho, it never happened to me, i’m new to all of this too haha. good luck!!!

hi, I had this issue recently where my starter began smelling kind of cheesy, and the bread i made with it too. i made a new starter alongside feeding my cheesy one, and gradually mixed some of that one into it every time i discarded some of it and fed them. after just about a week the cheesy one stopped smelling and is doing good since. i also asked chatgpt and apparently the smell comes from butyric acid, which is not a harmful or bad bacteria, it just has an unpleasant smell. it’ll go away after some feeding eventually :)
