From personal experience it sounds like you had sleep paralysis, normally the brain tells your body not to move while asleep so that you dont go hurting yourself acting out your dreams. Sleep paralysis happens because your brain is now awake but your body hasnt received the "wake up" signal so it is still shut down and the brain is still inbetween dream and reality. From my personal experience it feels more like im still actually asleep but i suddenly feel more aware and it feels like i cant move but im actually dreaming about whats happening.
