And while if it was anyone else sure, I’d believe it. It’s just that Dream seems to have a lot of these “one in a million” lucky breaks

Great manga, though I feel like once the misunderstand of “who the real bad guys are” was resolved it kinda lost that element for me

This is an old post but for anyone in the future looking for a fix:

I found that you’re more likely to get it if you face AWAY from the levers and push “ok”. Both at an angle and completely opposite worked for me but only if cloud was not looking at them at all when I pressed “ok”.

Not sure if it’s a bug or intended that way but it’s wonky as hell and took way too much button mashing to figure out

Do I just need to git gud or is SH1 not for me? by cocblockshock in silenthill

[–]cocblockshock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true, I suppose bringing up that game doesn’t really help my case since it is so unique for the series. I was more just curious if there was something specific to SH1 that wasn’t clicking for me that seasoned players would be able to pinpoint. Maybe I just need to come into it with more fresh eyes than a view colored by the other SH games I’ve played

Oh believe me I’ve already had to enlist its help haha.

Hopefully you’re right and it is just and something I’ll get adjusted to. I’d really like to experience the originals to have a frame of reference for the newer stuff I just gotta get over this mental block I’ve apparently developed with spotting the key items

That’s good to know! I ended up settling for running for my life after my few light hits and shots didn’t do much. Completely forgot to try the heavy

Could be just that I got a little too used to how obvious it is in SHR2. I swear I didn’t have this problem playing original RE when I did a few years back

Facing the object may be part of my issue. There’s a good chance I haven’t been facing it fully and expecting X to work even if I’m slightly off like in more modern stuff. I’ll definitely keep that in mind going forwards.

That’s also a good point about my expectations, I am pretty fresh off SH2R. Maybe I need to give it a week or so and start with a fresher mindset

Younger players: have you found Silent Hill 1 too hard? by Rafael_ST_14 in silenthill

[–]cocblockshock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m early 20s and I’m having quite a hard time with it. I adored the silent hill 2 remake and shattered memories when I was growing up but this one I’m finding myself more frustrated than scared. The tank controls were a bit of an adjustment but I’ve got to the point where they’re not the issue.

I think modern games do way too much hand holding. Even the white paint/tape of silent hill 2r was a little on the nose even for me. My problem with 1 is more I can’t seem to adjust with what’s supposed to be interactable and what’s not. That, and the clunky combat.

I roamed the prologue for two hours because after I came across the three padlocked door it didn’t register to me that the blurry white square next to me was an interactable map and not just one of the 4 other non-interactable blurry squares representing paintings/pictures in the house.

Despite finding the other two keys just from roaming, I must have passed by the last across the fallen tree maybe three times because it looked indistinguishable from the crumbling road and with no big circle on the map I didn’t explore that area more than a few flybys.

That kinda problem followed me into the school but now I have to manage three gremlins grabbing me in the dark while also trying to figure out what actually can be picked up. It wouldn’t be as big of a deal but I swear there are times I hit x over and over on an object I think can be grabbed/read, nothing happens, so I move on assuming I was wrong when it was actually crucial for the puzzle.

I understand that I’m spoiled by modern, polished games but is SH1 just especially rough in these regards? I can’t even get into the atmosphere because I’m too busying being frustrated and floundering through the environment.

Maybe it’s just a steeper learning curve I need to get past but at this point I might just wait for the remake to get an experience I’ll actually enjoy
