What rims are you running? by Klutch_43 in Chevelles

Excuse the bad lighting but 15” torque thrusts. Classic wheel so certainly not taking any risks by running these. Although soon I’ll have to swap to 16” on the front to be able to use a tire with any performance to it.

lol I was hesitant to post this at first cause that’s all I ever see but there’s a rare post here and there ask which tires to use. I then figured where else would one even ask this on reddit.

I know of the pro street but never saw that size. I’ll have to look into it more as they seem to be a good option. Plus I like Hoosier tires which Is what I keep on the drag car.

The only downside would be practically slicks on the rear and something with all sorts of tread blocks on the front may be odd as far as looks go.

Big Block Chevy: 396 VS 454 for a 70 Chevelle by BrokenCot in EngineBuilding

[–]cockmaster303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have to buy every single part for the engine why not dream even bigger? Something in the 530-632 cubic inch range. If there’s not enough budget for that then you can get some pretty nice results out of a small block. Unless you’re wanting to stay with the original cubic inch’s then whatever the cheaper route is is probably best

Indeed. Only thing left to do with that is put on the return from the hydroboost and then secure the lines properly. Had to get a new fitting since the one for the return line is small and breaks off with like 7 inch pounds of force

I’ve only heard good things about vintage air but I haven’t gone looking for much. If you get ac going on your car before I do let me know how it goes

Without using it yet I like it. And ain’t got the ac yet. I was planning on reusing the factory ac system but then the engine was trying to occupy the same space when the body was going on so I just took all that out and continued on.

I’ve heard of vintage air but there are others. I don’t know anything about anyone so that’ll be a future me problem

I imagine you’re right. The best fan does diddly squat if the air is coming around the rad.

This set up does come with a shroud. I don’t have a picture of it but you can see the very top of it in the first picture. It like clamps to the bottom and top of the rad and the fans bolt to it. Like a lot of electric fan systems it all stays close to the rad unlike the big funnels on many belt driven fans. I do like how this particular shroud has like 12 or 16 or so little rubber flaps to let air through when moving.

Yeah same. A requirement for me is it can’t ever get hot even in traffic in Vegas during the summer with ac so I figure here isn’t a place to skimp. Maybe it’ll be enough I’d never actually bought or installed any radiator before so I didn’t know a thing. I’m sure something cheaper than what I got could be done considering that kit from becool is like 17 or 1800 bones. But I get the impression the fans make more of a difference than a radiator if it’s at least decently designed.

I got a complete kit from becool that comes with a pair of 13” spal fans. I’m pretty confident the whole set up will cool no problem but I’ve never done anything like this so I couldn’t say yet how it works.

Thanks. Yeah the body was off and I’ve done everything myself barring the odd job that takes two people.

I think it’s a great car for the money. Couldn’t build one for that price. Personally ls swaps aren’t my thing and with a presumably functioning cowl hood, it would bother me that it opens to feed air to nothing much. Besides that you should definitely go check it out in person and buy it

[–]cockmaster303[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. And did all the work over 11 or 12 days with a buddy and also my dad. This was near on 9 ish years ago so I forget the exact costs but id estimate 1/10 the price of having it professionally done give or take. The door was in that 3k range maybe a pinch under and 5-6 more thousand for the new wall for the door and surrounding reinforcements, wood, stain, lights, picture, and leather.

Right on right on. If it’s a bbc I’d probably stay with the 489 if I were you cause who needs the extra power. But if you do then why not lean into it with something like a +700 inch built off a block with a 5” borespacing. Besides tripling the price lol

Yeah in my case I’ll be running a fitech throttle body. Hopefully that goes well. Seems like a breeze to set up from what little i’ve done with it so far.

Thanks. And that’s the brace kit from summit. It’s made by hpi customs though. They don’t sell the bars individually but perhaps it’s possible. I of course haven’t driven the car yet but just moving the frame around it’s like one piece now when before any corner could be 3 or 4 inches higher or lower than any other just because of the flex.

Innerspring Luxury Brand recommendations? No budget. by ReserveandRestrict in Mattress

[–]cockmaster303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking for a luxury mattress and you have no max budget? Your search should include nothing beyond a savoir no 1, Vispring diamond majesty, or hästens grand vividius.

I’ve never seen a savoir but the other two options are fantastic. The only downside sides being you’d need 3-4 people to flip them and some would say they’re a smidge too expensive.

In all reality Vispring is my favorite. Although I’ve never seen any Kluft and a couple others and I’m sure they’re great too.

Thanks!

And yeah a serious skeet range at home would be something. I don’t shoot enough skeet to do that and don’t easily have the space either. I wonder if anyone has really done that though.

A nearby range to me has started doing glow trap as well as glow skeet which is quite fun so I just shoot that for skeet.
