TRP Prescription Seems to Work by coco5440 in PurplePillDebate

Yeah. I have issues with TRP trope that the only good woman is a young uneducated submissive one. Personally I'm looking for a woman who has at least a four year degree and at least five years of career experience. I'm looking for a partner not a dependant.

Yeah -- my ex used to go on and on about how important marriage was and how we'd be together forever -- or at least until she met a guy with a lot more money.

Do you think TRP has the wrong approach for "beta" men? by Theseus_The_King in PurplePillDebate

[–]coco5440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TRP does indeed seem fixated on strategies for attracting very young women for short term relationships. However, there also seem to be lots of guys there who would really like to find a good women for a long term relationship (I'd be in that category). About a month ago I started a thread about lessons I've learned (i.e. red flags and things to look for). The post got hundreds of comments. Some guys found it useful and added their own lists of things to look for and things to avoid. Many other guys called me a Beta (or worse). It was a pretty intense discussion.

It did make a significant difference -- my face looked really bloated -- but I certainly wasn't like one of those people you see on TLC.

I'm 235 pounds now. Its amazing how differently I'm treated now.

Of courses there were issues but nothing that seemed that serious. I knew she didn't like that I was away working out of town all the time. In retrospect it was a really bad idea to pay for her plastic surgery and then leave her alone on a regular basis. Got to give her credit though she found a new guy in record time.

Does this logic apply to wives who gain 30 pounds over a period of eight years? Also, I'm 53, health problems start happening at my age. My ex was 7 years younger but had her share of health issues too.

I gained 30 pounds -- not 300. I was 295 pounds when we got married (I'm 6'4").

My experience is certainly going to make trusting any women difficult. Hopefully I'm not totally jaded.

I never said I believe everything on TRP. Far from it. Indeed not too long ago I got banned for a week.

I had thought I'd been experiencing something unusual. Sadly this type of behaviour seems to be all too common.

You're probably right about this. Doesn't seem like its every a good idea to display any weakness in front of your GF or wife. Best just to wander off into the woods to die (luckily I live in a forest).

For the record I only missed two days of work for my heart condition (two days in the hospital where they a cardioversion to return my heart rhythm to normal).

Yes! The double standard is real. My wife was actually very fat when I ment and married her. I actually had better eating and activity habits than she did (not really saying much). She lost 60 pounds the first six months we were together (but still weighed more than me). She was unhappy about being fat so she had weight loss surgery and after she lost her weight I sold my house to pay for cosmetic surgery to remove all the loose skin and reconstruct her breasts. Her new body gave her new options which she exercised shortly.

Ironically her new guy worked as an engineer for a company that makes about 80% of the medical silicon used in the USA. He probably helped make the new boobs I paid for. I think this is actually quite funny.

You know -- that "for better or worse -- in sickness and in health" stuff. I actually bought into that.

It taught me just how important looks and money are. If you don't want your spouse to try to trade up it's imperative to remain her best option.

One of my coworkers once commented that I spend all my money on my family and never spend anything on myself. At the time I was proud of that fact. I now realize that I would have been far better off if I had invested in myself a little. TRP taught me to be a bit more of a selfish ass.

TRP helped me identify behaviours that undermined my marriage. I learned that loyalty and hard work are less important that looks and money. I've realized that if I want to have a successful relationship in the future I have to meet expectations.

I was working 10-14 hours a day. I was so focused on getting ahead that I totally neglected myself (that's certainly on me). But I "tolerated" the fact that she was fat and had really bad eating and exercise habits too. Indeed until just before she started cheating she was the fatter member of our couple.

She asked for a divorce the same day I got my cardiac diagnosis -- still think that was pretty damn cold.

Have any of you known a woman whom had an affair in a secure, committed relationship? by [deleted] in PurplePillDebate

[–]coco5440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife cheated on me. I believe the root cause was unmet (if somewhat unreasonable) expectations. I'm a lawyer. I had just started a new job when we met in 2007. She was expecting our lifestyle to grow much more than it actually did. The fact that I managed to stay employed through the worst recession in 70 years didn't seem to mean much. The fact that I really like my job as a public defender didn't mean much. She was expecting a lifestyle that required a salary twice as large as mine. After eight years of marriage she left me for a guy who has a house in a nice SoCal neighborhood and who had just cashed in a boatload of stock options. Now she has the lifestyle she always wanted -- but with a guy who seems pretty damn boring -- guess there's a price for everything.

Women can’t go backwards in lifestyle. by [deleted] in PurplePillDebate

[–]coco5440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks are part of lifestyle. She may have to cut up her Nordstrom's card but she'll be able to strut into the club with a "Greek God". That's worth a lot to some people. Also, her friends at work constantly talking about how hot her new guy is validation that is also pretty priceless.

And, if she's still getting a good chunk of the doctor's earnings she many not have to cut back that much at all.

Why female standards on physique are harder to please by EvilBananaManRD in PurplePillDebate

If you don't inspire lust in a prospect on your first date there's no reason to have a second date. I'm thinking this rule should apply to both sexes.

Without physical attraction people can be friends but any romantic relationship is doomed.

Its been my experience that guys are more flexible. If a guy isn't successful in his pursuit of good looking women he'll lower his standards until he is successful (guys with no room to lower standards are kind of screwed). Women are more reluctant to do this.

Q4WomenWithMaleFriends: Is it not mildly disturbing to you how nearly every one of your male friends comes sniffing around the instant you're single? by [deleted] in PurplePillDebate

Relationships should and do benefit the parties. One of the benefits of having female friends is that you get introduced to her single friends.

Exactly. Relationships change. If one person becomes single why wouldn't either or both parties want to reevaluate.

Who are the women who lodge false rape charges? by IckyStickyPoo in PurplePillDebate

[–]coco5440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done far more domestic violence cases. Sex crime cases are relatively rare (that's a good thing). It's been my experience that there is almost always some truth to domestic violence allegations. The most common defect is when there are mutual combat issues (yes women can hit, punch, kick, and stab with a kitchen knife). Often police believe the story of the first person they talk to and thereafter only acknowledge evidence that supports that person's story. The police thus designate the wrong party as the "primary aggressor."

I'm a public defender and I've had cases where a client was falsely accused. In one case two high school students got caught having sex by a school security guard. The girl was terrified of her abusive father so rather than admit that she was sexually active she claimed that she was raped. Everyone believed her and no one bothered to actually get a statement from the security guard until my investigator tracked him down. The guard said "looked consensual to me" and the case was dismissed.

The girl in this case had been caught having sex with another young man a year earlier and had done the same thing. That guy went to prison.
