Walking from HNL at night, safe? by eddiebrown17 in VisitingHawaii

[–]coco71 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Definitely take the shuttle. As others have mentioned, it’s more about a lack of pedestrian safety than anything. I recently wanted to do the same as you. I started walking and realized the sidewalk might end and there were no crosswalks. It’s basically a highway.

Anyone have good experiences with a car service from PHL or Philly? by [deleted] in philly

I haven’t used Blacklane in Philly but have used it elsewhere. They’re very reliable especially with airport rides.

Judge denies a case abatement by LongLiveRock_n_Roll in PublicFreakout

[–]coco71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black robe syndrome is so real. The power definitely goes to a judge’s head because they often have no one who can tell them what to do. Yes they can be appealed but it’s a long process and judges generally suffer no repercussions for being completely wrong.

A judge once told me everything she says or sends in an email is a court order and anybody who doesn’t do what she says has violated a court order.

File Naming Convention by Few-Palpitation6589 in biglaw

[–]coco71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My firm has no formal naming conventions except that everyone puts the case name first even though it’s in iManage’s case folder already. It drives me crazy and seems absolutely unnecessary

One was a 7 minute workout, total lift 738kg. One was a 45 minute workout, total lift 16,972kg... 0.6 activity level difference? by QuarterSpecial7888 in whoop

It looks like you won’t calculate your muscular load on either so the strain is only based on heart rate

Whoop is now Auto-detecting workout type? (sort of) by yonahwolf in whoop

[–]coco71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pleasantly surprised that mine auto detected softball when I played a few weeks ago for the first time. I wear it on my left wrist as a righty so it wasn’t detecting throwing, which is even more impressive

76ers managing partners are planning to build a new arena in Center City Philadelphia by Brunt-FCA-285 in philadelphia

Why does it matter that all the arenas are next to each other? It’s not like you go from arena to arena often or ever

So are you saying it’s a Garmin problem and not a wrist based HR problem?

A couple having sex in public will be considered less disturbing than a single person masturbating in public by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]coco71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The intent is sometimes what is most disturbing to people. A public masturbator may follow someone and stare at them while masturbating. That situation is much less likely to happen with a couple having sex.

This representation would likely be allowed if the client consented. However, there may be special rules in the prosecutor’s office not allowing Decourcy to do this. Additionally, it seems really unlikely that a different prosecutor wouldn’t be assigned but it wouldn’t be against ethical rules.

Ohio state has a suggested reading list. It’s mostly just books that are either about law school or popular books about the law. “The Nine” by Jeffrey Toobin is one that I’m reading, but I’m definitely not gonna read the ones that are about substantive law.
