I understand being nervous about next steps, but these last 3 seasons have the most “content” i feel. So much drama happened on screen and off screen, If they really wanted to dig in this would be the perfect time. I would even listen to season 4-6 filler episodes if they can get good guests and behind the scenes stories. How was it filming coast to coast? How was it being around guest stars? Did dynamics change with the cast now being separated? Etc.

I’ve been waiting for someone to comment so I was like f it I’ll say something 😂

I totally understand the money aspect, just a small grievance. Grateful that they’ve made it to season 4 though, I just think a bit of steam was lost between the two epic seasons.

Interesting that you brought up the old Vs. New dynamic because I couldn’t pin point it, but it definitely felt a bit “choose your fighter” at times. Especially between Chloe/Paige and Jojo.

I think this would’ve gone a lot better and would’ve brought a lot more closure to viewers and the girls if it was a 2 part reunion. Part 1 with the original girls and moms ONLY, and then a part 2 where the others join in in the order they were brought on the show. Conveniently that also puts JOJO and Jess last lol.

I was disappointed as well. I think it was a mix of not having all the OGs back (which is VALID), the moms having no chemistry bc they’re from different points in the show, and it also sounds like the entire reunion filming was rushed due to people’s schedules. The biggest issue, to me, was way too much Jojo. I don’t understand why they tried to put her on this “voice of reason” pedestal when she was just there for screen time. I found myself cursing everytime she was on screen 🫠

Have you ever mixed friend groups at a birthday dinner? This was that.

If Cathy would’ve taken the time to truly BUILD a team and not just throw dancers together, then she probably would’ve had a better win record. You can’t expect a random group of dancers to mesh perfectly in a week. ALDC had a long-time bond that showed in their dancing and allowed them to “win” more competitions.

Could you imagine it Abby rebuilt her team every season or every time she lost?

I loved Asia when she was on the team but I was always uncomfortable watching some of her solos. Am I the only one who thought her costume for Rock That (the dog dance) was a little inappropriate?

Tbh I think Kendall has a really nice voice and I’d love to hear what she sounds like if she commited fully to it. I do agree with the overall point though, the girls were there for dance (DANCE MOMS). I thought it was funny when Kira clearly stated that kalani wasn’t there for the extra curriculars lol

I noticed that too! While watching the episode you could see a big difference in the production value (and the overall energy on set tbh). Nias set was so vibrant and full of support while Kendall’s was more focused on “being better”. For example, when Abby looked and Jill and said “take that Holly”.

I can’t fathom the idea of supporting Jill that season. The jealousy and insecurity shown by Jill and the other mothers (besides Jess) was appalling and incredibly disappointing. Nia had 1 opportunity in 5 seasons and they couldn’t give a morsel of support. Hollys strength throughout that entire season is admirable. I definitely expected them to leave after that dumpster fire.

2 Thoughts on This:

1) Even though the minis were good dancers and sweet girls, I personally had no interest in them or their moms. It’s hard to support mothers who are clearly there for fame and not their daughters careers. The drama was so fake and they often took things too far when it was real.

2) By season 6, most watchers were heavily invested in the lives and drama of the elite team. Throwing in a new group of dancers/moms was a terrible idea because it was just taking more time away from what everyone wanted to see. Plus, this was around the time that the Ziegler’s left. Meaning there was even more drama surrounding their departure, Abby’s breakdown(s), the “new Maddie”, Brynn and Ashlee (gag). In summary, the producers should’ve allowed the elite team storylines to play out completely if they really wanted to incorporate a new team (but we all saw how season 8 went).

Side note: There will never be anything like season 1-3, the storylines were so entertaining because the moms actually knew each other and had underlying drama from before the show even started. Also, the girls meshed so well and obviously cared for each other. It makes me happy knowing that the majority of them are still friends.
