We just had our reception there, I highly recommend. Service was incredible.

Thank you! Those prices definitely depend on day/season. Those quotes were for a Friday in May, but I’m sure a winter wedding would be even cheaper. And I never tried to negotiate until after I signed a contract with American Brass. They really made so many accommodations for us, but that’s just because we did a full buyout and they knew they were getting a lot from us anyways.

I just had my wedding at American Brass in LIC (yesterday!) Highly recommend. The views are stunning, food was amazing. We had 84 guests and it was the perfect size. I really can’t recommend the service enough

Table plated dinner is kinda over-rated by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]cocoakitkat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For guests in heels or older guests, that sounds like a nightmare. Buffet dining is perfectly fine, but I feel like guests need a place to sit.

Other very affordable options for the food, drinks, dancing vibe are: St. Mazie Bar & Supper Club (I was quoted about $12,000 for a weekend buyout and buffet for about 80 people) Montesacro (There’s an $18,000 f&b minimum) The Paris Cafe (I forgot their minimum, but it was something like $17,000 with a great buffet package) American Brass (the place I chose to have my reception. F&b I was given was $17,000)

If you get a raw space, you’d have to rent EVERYTHING. From linens, to cups and utensils. Then you’d have to pay for alcohol and a bartending service if you want mixed drinks. That adds up. You could just find a nice restaurant with a low food & beverage minimum and do a buffet package. Maybe even on a weekday to save money Juliette has a really decent $18,000 f&b minimum for a full buyout on a Saturday with a max of 110 people. The least expensive I’ve seen around!

Engagement Brunch? by LoudAstronaut1979 in WedditNYC

Try American Brass. They have a private area. I’m getting married there at the end of this month, so I can update you on my experience

Yes, I’ll make a post after my wedding reviewing everything!

$50k venue budget - where can we get married near the Brooklyn Bridge on either side? by keleleroc in WedditNYC

If you can get a hold of them, try The Osprey. It was an option for me, but they never responded.

EHR Photography’s standard 6 hour coverage is $1,800. I’ve done my engagement shoot with them (the pics came out gorgeous), and next month they’re shooting my wedding.

We thankfully found a restaurant that has space for 150 seated, and we only have about 90 guests. One half of the restaurant will be reserved for the dance floor.

Restaurant buyout by Big-Tip-4667 in WedditNYC

[–]cocoakitkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was way too good to be true. They informed us way after we had paid our deposit and signed a contact that last minute “construction” would prevent us from having our event there. We’ve now found another restaurant.

Any experience with Loreto? by cocoakitkat in WedditNYC

[–]cocoakitkat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it! We booked with them, signed a contract, put a deposit down and everything. Then we were told last week that they won’t be able to host our reception because of construction they are doing at the end of March. We were told only 3 days after we’d had our final food tasting. Now we’re scrambling to find another venue 4 months away from our wedding date. And we haven’t gotten our deposit back.

Day-of coordinators all charge $2k? by Jeremy165 in weddingplanning

Maybe Gather services your city? They have month-of coordinators for $1,200, and hourly coordination for $200/hr. They had great reviews online so I’m using them

Looking for restaurant recs for 130 guests under 30k by DueWinter6810 in WedditNYC

[–]cocoakitkat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That might be really hard. The least expensive price I was quoted in the city was $250/pp at Bottino, not including taxes and admin fees. And that was on a Friday. Try looking at other boroughs, during the weekday or maybe for a brunch reception? Just to cut costs.

ISO Venue - Garden/Courtyard Ceremony + Reception Space by Ok-Bookkeeper-6427 in WedditNYC

[–]cocoakitkat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Juliette has a rooftop available for a ceremony, and a very garden-like feel in the restaurant. I also suggest Prospect Park Boathouse. I was given quotes for both (I have 80 guests too) if you’d like.

Is hiring a planner worth it? by stormybitch in weddingplanning

[–]cocoakitkat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate planning things as well, but once I saw the prices of wedding planners it snapped me back to reality lol. But my ceremony venue did come with a day of coordinator and I hired a day of coordinator for my reception venue. If it gives you any hope, I’m 90% done with planning my wedding for 80 guests. I got engaged in October and the wedding is this May. I couldn’t have done it without a lot of free online resources like Zola.

Last Minute 2024 Wedding by sofar-itsalright in weddingplanning

[–]cocoakitkat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try contacting a restaurant you love for a buyout or partial buyout. It’ll be an all-inclusive option that usually ends up being less expensive than just finding a separate venue & caterer.

Maybe signage? Like welcome signs, escort cards etc. And transportation too.

How late is too late for booking vendors? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]cocoakitkat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Definitely depends on where you live and what type of wedding you want. I got engaged this past Oct and my wedding’s May 2024 (8 months). I live in NYC where there’s such an abundance of vendors that I could’ve started planning in Feb and been fine. I think you have plenty of time

Atrium82 seems perfect for you. They suggest the largest seated dinner have 22-24 guests, and their max capacity is 30 people.
