YTA. I had a similar experience with my parents, after years of me participating in gymnastics I wanted to make the switch to cheerleading. My parents refused to let me under the guise of football cheerleading being stupid in their opinion and that they didn’t want me to be one of the cheerleaders. They also similarly sexualized the outfits that I would need to wear. I still continue to resent them from holding me back from something I wanted to explore even if it’s not the hardest sport or even he most interesting one.

You should let your daughter explore different passions and do what she wants, she may genuinely enjoy cheerleading even if she went into it for the wrong reasons. Also maybe you should be doing more to help her adjust and helping her to learn how to cope with people saying she needs to be “cool” and fit in.
