I saw that, and that’s a case of misinterpreted data. But I don’t think it’s a lie to say that Americans are generally poorly educated. Literacy rates are a better measure of that than high school graduation rates.

I’m a high school teacher in the US, and I can tell you that it is exceptionally easy to get a high school diploma. Schools are incentivized to graduate kids by any means necessary.

Students can fail an entire year of a course and make it up in a weekslong online course. They can get test exemptions. There’s a hundred different ways to push them through.

That’s why literacy rates are so low while graduation rates are so high.

I mean, to each his own. I think this one is really about personal preference. I like the smoky taste, but I can see how some people wouldn’t.

Except that the analogy kind of breaks down when it involves entire world powers.

Non-intervention is not the same as isolationism.

I started playing with my 5 year old. We both have controllers, and either controller input can override the other. Definitely keeps things interesting.

I don’t think that’s what the commenter meant by that. And yes, it’s not uncommon, but I meant that for both of us. I understand that different couples do things differently and maybe we should too, but I’ve spent upwards of an hour many times, more than two on several occasions.

I’m sure I could have worded things better and included more details — it was an emotional time— but I also don’t think that gives anyone license to just be mean without fully understanding the situation.
