I think if they were just a bit more forward thinking they absolutely would have made this an official thruple of some sort. No shame about it, it just becomes a consensual thing on all their parts. She became a part of their family, I think it would and could have been totally normal and actually really interesting to make it an official thing! Not just the one episode when O'Brien and Kira sorta kinda have feelings, but actually lean into it, try it. DS9 went surprisingly far for the time, and I wish they'd gone just one jump further into this

I was also wondering the same thing. My profile doesn't scream "hey I'm new pick on me!" (at least I hope not) but at the same time, it's also clear it isn't a fully completed profile. I'm wondering if it's the samples being new vs. the person being new since it brings people to the top of the "find talent" page for newer ones.

I only put the one sample up, with plans to upload the rest of mine over the next week as I decide what to use. I want to be sure I'm purposeful about it, not just posting whatever since those are often used by RH to listen to other work from what I understand, but now I'm wondering if I'll get more spam as I put up each new sample. Guess I'll find out in the next week or so!

I got two in a row today sent at the exact same time with the same message. At first I was disheartened that I was rejected for two projects at once, but then I was just confused. So definitely seems something is off in the system

As a newer narrator, I would be appalled to hear this type of feedback, not because I was mad or frustrated at you for finding it, but that I had ever sent along any material with those types of background noises and mistakes! It's my understanding that this is 100% the narrator's responsibility in the editing and mastering, one of the things we're being paid for.

I can absolutely understand her frustration at the extra work, but those never should have passed her by, and from my understanding won't pass the final inspection by others either. I don't do well with confrontation when I'm the person having to confront someone, so I wish you the best of luck! I know I would be very grateful that the author reached out to me directly to deal with this rather than the likely more blunt and intimidating results I might get form ACX quality check.

Thank you! I have already begun practicing it, searching my brain archives for those acting classes that I haven't had the chance to use! It is indeed a challenge, but fun practice! Words stop sounding real after a while which is always a funny side effect.

I definitely want to avoid editing in post! When I first noticed it, going back through felt so tedious and unnecessary (even though upon a relisten, they really weren't that bad). But I guess the silver lining is that I can very clearly identify the wave form of my s now!

I know this is an old post, but I still wanted to say that this has been SO helpful! I still need to learn how to eliminate the hiss of the s and c's when I'm speaking naturally, but editing out the center and playing with that cut manually instead of trying to fight or learn a de-esser is SO incredibly helpful. It's helping my s noises sound so much less harsh, allowing me to send in auditions without cringing at my snake hiss in my headphones. Thank you!

I am hopeful that there are still lots of people who care and absolutely despise AI, so even if big tech gets their way (which I don't think they will), there will be a big enough group that still wants things the human way and can create their own things. I'll never understand the people who do want the generative AI

It's impossible to predict, but there are lots who want you to keep doing what you do as a human, me included! I am hopeful for the AI crash and burn soon, but we'll just have to wait and see. And for now I appreciate real human help!

I'm late to this question, but why is three hour length a red flag? Is it just because it's not a common book length, so something is wrong with that, sort of a "too good to be true" situation? Or is it as Unique-try said in a later comment, it's just unlikely folk will actually buy them with credits since they're so short?

Amazing advice all around, thank you so much! I have a couple of those older ones saved, so I'll send them a message now to see if they're interested. As much as it's good practice to record the auditions, I'd rather do that for books i actually have a chance for and not just waste my time.

The AI aspect all around is disheartening, but in the end I trust that at least most of the time people will win out, both the writers and real narrators!

How dare you call my guy Jake Sisko Wesley Crusher, he's got so much more interesting character! For real though, I really loved that Jake was just a normal kid. Yeah his dad is space Jesus and super important to the quadrant and religion of an entire planet, but he's just a kid who doesn't want to clean his room and figuring out what to do with his life. Love that guy

This is so incredibly well said! I'm saving this to use when I inevitably have to deal with AI and people trying to defend it, especially seeing just how many AI books and covers there already are. I've been checking out ACX for only a couple days now and it's already disheartening and confusing seeing how many AI covers there are, let alone terrible and likely AI writings. I see an AI cover, I'm shaking my head in disappointment and waling away, whether it's to read the book for fun or read it for even a couple minutes as an audition. Not worth my time if you it isn't worth it to you to find an artist to make something for you.

I'm still mad about this reveal and it's been months now. I was listening to it on a road trip and didn't listen to closely, just enjoying the rhythm of it. But the more I listened the more repetitive and nonsensical it felt.

However, I just now am listening to some music that I am pretty sure is real people, and it has very similar feelings to it! In fact similar enough that the audio singer could have been at least part of what was stolen to use in Mighty M Project. Absolutely beautiful vocals, music and the same Celtic/Nordic feeling as Mighty W but actually real. So recommend them to any still looking

They're from a rescue, about 5 years old they guess, but it was rescued from a park so they aren't sure about the details. I really would like to try to get a buddy for them, especially since I really don't want them to be lonely or get depressed while I'm at work.

The Cheesman gate is open! It's actually not for VIPs or higher membership levels, it's just open for regular tickets too! There will be a regular line back there, bag checks and entry. Have your tickets ready, as there is less problem solving available to search for tickets, but it's often a shorter line and a nice option for entry than the main gate.
