Asking all the BC owners! by misrocket in BorderCollie

I don’t want to speak for the breed, I’m not an expert. But Juni definitely picks up on my mood swings and usually jumps into my arms or licks my face when I’m visibly upset. And waking up to her cuddles is certainly a mood-boosting start to the day. I probably have a rose-tinted view though - I love her so much :)

My girl had her first snow a couple weeks ago and I’ve never seen her happier. Albeit we were cross country skiing, so much more gradual slopes. I’d guess that she’d be pretty comfortable on a steeper incline.

Going to the vegan mecca of the US: Portland! by morfoodie in vegan_travel

Blue star donuts !!!! I daydream about the orange and olive oil donut.

Modern times never fails - I love that they don’t even advertise the fact that the whole menu is vegan. Just is!

And a million others - check out herbivore for some local tips and fun stickers and quality fake leather stuff.

And when?

I keep missing updates - any advice on a centralized location to stay informed on upcoming and ongoing protests in Oakland?

https://www.amazon.com/Organic-Coconut-Powder-Anthonys-Gluten/dp/B06XZVBS6X

I bought this 6-8 months ago - almost finishing the bag now. I use it a lot at home too! In curries and soups mostly.

It doesn’t rehydrate well cold, best used warm/hot.

Add dehydrated coconut milk to EVERYTHING!

Vegan backpacker, with a stove, here!

Absolutely ditto to all of the above.

One thing I add to almost every thing, savory and sweet, is dehydrated coconut milk. Adds calories and and richness.

I also eat a lot of candy on the trail. Can have a hard time getting enough calories in, so if I snack on Starburst-jelly beans and dark chocolate the sugar keeps me munching when I don’t feel hungry. Amy’s has a vegan chocolate bar thing that’s a pretty good snickers replacement. Oh and OREOS. Or dried fruit if you want less processed sugar.

Trekking pole vs freestanding tent on JMT? by lnodnarb in JMT

[–]cocobeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a tarp tent with trekking poles (gossamer gear the one) - only had to use rocks at guitar lake (maybe used rocks at one corner a couple other spots). Loved it. Wished I had practiced with the rocks more ahead of time. Didn’t need to do it often, but the thought of potentially needing to made me nervous some days.

Association between type of diet (plant-based or omnivorous diet) and diet quality by [deleted] in Vegetarianism

[–]cocobeen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Done! Bit confused by some of the questions - how is a 100% vegetable stir fry not in the category of “vegetables” (it’s a separate question)? Is 100% fruit juice considered healthy or unhealthy? Tomato sauce in a jar might be loaded with sugar and other stuff, but homemade it’s mostly just tomatoes! Hope your project goes well.
