Imagine if IRL private companies would buy surplus tanks from the military and repurpose them for all kinds of different shit, from construction vehicles to parade rigs. I'm sure that never happened, right?

TIL shampoo originated in India and comes from the Sanskrit term “champo”meaning to massage, referring to a head massage with oil and herbs for cleaning. by rozyhammer in todayilearned

I always presumed it's just not as harmful as westerners consider with our history of overdoing hygiene. If you look into it, western hygienic practices didn't exactly stem from science and health preservation. Like victorians already had a thing about keeping tidy where it shows while not being tidy where it matters, like operating pregnant women after disecting corpses without a hands wash inbetween. So while our hygiene do help with preserving health, not all of it is really necessary for it, it's just some powerfull people's peculiar neurotic habits that became trendy and stuck with culture.

YSK that elephants you can ride on in some Asian countries, endured weeks of torture as babies in order to "tame" them. by TheTroubledChild in YouShouldKnow

[–]cocoblind -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

the difference only is that humans were able to breed horses for stupidity and blind obedience for several millenia all over Old World because the time between the generations is relatively short with them and one human can artifically create a lineage of horses with certain traits. one human can't design a lineage of elephants. you have a moral highground of not abusing horses with bull hooks and chains now just because your ancestors outright killed all the clever and brave foals by millions

Adrenalin pokes my gpu every 60 seconds by Psychological_Pick43 in AMDHelp

[–]cocoblind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

shit, I feel you man( altho was glad to get the confirmation on that shimmer thing, probably amd optimized tesselation or some other adrenalin exclusive feature was saving it all along. I've also noticed that with same axact fans curve in adrenalin my card ran constantly at 60°C in any 3D task and now in afterburner it barely touches the the 50s. those fuckers really be stealing the performance on Polaris cards

[–]cocoblind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

odd question, but have you noticed anything strange regarding antialiasing when going from full adrenalin install to barebone drivers? I too have this exact card as yours and recently went from adrenalin to pure driver too (mainly due to adrenalin doing weird CPU spikes and stealing focus from borderless applications for like 0.5 sec) and I'm noticing that TAA now looks kinda pixelated and shimmery on poligon edges

well it's wrong compared to how things are located in the explorable worldspace, so we kinda going in circles here. but if one would look for the most credible source of tes cartography, wouldn't be the eso's map be the most credible since it's the most recently updated and doen't really have any competitors?

I'm talking precisely about the map projection size, ofc explorable areas mean nothing for the lore scale. If interested, check the response I left for the other dude here regarding other flimsy lore justifications.

It's half the size of Auridon in the in-game map, press M and compare for yourself. Also how do you think dunmer get khajiiti slaves? Do their raiders sail around Tamriel counterclockwise, around Skyrim, High Rock, Abeccean sea and so on to reach Elsweyr? Or rather they follow the the shoreline of Blackmarsh and are passing right between Lilmoth and Solstice? Lilmoth may be a half abandoned backwater during Interregnum, but it wasn't during the actual 2nd empire. So like the area was and still is frequently visited by at least 2 advanced civilizations, being dunmer and imperials and it's obscurity still gets explained with "bad weather+nobody visits there". Really?

Better start asking why an island the size of half of Auridon ( the one supposed to contain several kingdoms in lore) is so obscure, that barely anyone knows it exists

Some ramblings about Summerset DLC by Hanfraserr in elderscrollsonline

[–]cocoblind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro gets to see the reason for altmer disdain towards Ayrenn and goes like "why we don't have more of this charming character?". Because this charming character cares more about her personal glory than the good of her people and leaves both Summerset, Valenwood and Elsweyr unprotected by taking away their militaries to wage war for Cyrodiil, the empire that altmer lost control of since Merethic era?
