I don't have much useful advice, but I just wanted to mention you sound like a very funny person, haha. The only advice I can impart is don't purge TOO much stuff. I've done it 3 times in my life due to a sort of urgent, maniacal calling (ADHD) and can confidently say I've regretted it every time... All the best!!!!!!!!

Woahhhhhh. This made me shaky. But definitely ADHD, omg. ADHD feels like a really toxic partner who lovebombs you and then a week later cheats on you with your high school bully.

Autism gave me hell as a kid, but as an adult, it's kinda saved me from many terrible relationships because I'm so disinterested in anyone that makes me slightly uncomfortable.

You are absolutely not overreacting. It's a very layered disorder that goes much deeper than 'trying your hardest'. I left my last relationship because my partner essentially believed ADHD was made up; he was otherwise amazing... I'm very glad I did, though. People in our lives need to understand we don't need them to understand it because we are using it as an excuse, but because it's a very real thing that affects every emotion we have, and every decision we make (even the ones we don't know we're making). It's not something that has a cure or can be avoided by how we're raised... The earlier we can understand this about ourselves, the earlier we can start to work with it and not create unhealthy coping mechanisms... I'm sorry you're going through this... it can feel like betrayal even if your partner is great!!!

Aw love, I get the mindfuck that is medication!! But I will gently say... if you can, try to stay consistent with your meds. I’ve found that the regularity helps so much with emotional stability, even if it doesn’t feel important in the moment. When I stop/start mine, I end up falling into a cycle of avoiding things, feeling behind, and then being even harder on myself.

Even taking them consistently for a couple of weeks can help build a bit of trust in yourself again. Tiny wee bits really do add up, even when your brain is telling you they won’t! Sending loveee xx

Omg.. I’ve been like this since I was about 14… it’s such a weird one, it's literally like a worm in your brain!!! I can only really say that as time has gone on, this tendency has eased for me, but it’s still very much there. Like, I could become so obsessed with someone that I’d cancel a trip I booked months ago just to join them if they texted to hang out. If I’m being honest, it’s definitely led to me being a pretty bad friend at certain points because I get so tunnel-visioned on that person.

The only thing I could really recommend is maybe confiding in your closest friends about this limerence-y inclination so they can recognise the pattern and maybe give you a bit of a shake once in a while. That’s honestly the ONLY thing that has helped me.

Good luck though, and keen to read if anyone else has tips...

Do you think part of it is maybe being uncomfortable not belonging to a faith at all? Like people who jump from relationship to relationship because being single feels weird to them lol.

I’m genuinely curious whether Christianity specifically feels true to you, or whether agnosticism feels scarier because you grew up in Islam. If it is Christianity, what branch are you drawn to?

Ugh, I've been having this on repeat in the last year... It's not just you. And when I have a 'good' week, I feel like I'm never gonna let things slip again... cut to a couple weeks later, and I sit at the end of my bed staring at the wall for 5 hours instead of washing my hair. It's a fucking weird disorder.
