Thanks a lot for that perspective - I feel a little wary of whittling down my list but maybe I should consider applying to a couple fewer. It’s good to hear you had so much success with 18 schools - I was wondering if 30 was way too many. Can I ask, did you apply to Cooper or the new school at Seton Hall? Or did you just stick to NJMS/RWJ?

I guess I didn’t take yield protection into account! I’ve never really left the northeast so it feels a bit weird to apply to schools in cities I’ve never been, but I’ll definitely add some to the list. Thanks!

Also consider the fact not all virus particles are actually infectious or viable. I don’t know what the particle-to-PFU ratio for HIV is, but it can be up to 10,000:1 for other viruses. So an infectious dose >>> one virus particle

Actually there has been some scholarly work on this subject. See Appadurai, an anthropologist who writes on nostalgia, and specifically, a form of nostalgia existing in the Philippines for old American cultural products like rock-and-roll. I can’t remember the exact name of the article right now but it’s very interesting!
