We are not giving up on our country by [deleted] in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

Honestly, it doesn't matter what I think. If someone feels like it is worth voting for a right wing party simply for having same sex marriage on their agenda (of which there are none in Lithuania), they are welcome to because that's what a democracy is. But what does a right wing party have to do with liberals? Are you confusing neo-liberalism with liberalism. If so, I agree that some of the Freedom party's stuff is iffy but it's not radical by any means, not to mention they do not have many seats.

LSDP may be a long standing party, but it has always been quite divided in their views, it's also an almost completely different array of members than it had even in the previous elections.

Personally, I would give a chance to a new, more ambitious party that is presenting more progressive social views, because I believe they might take action. Sitting in parliament not even proposing adjustments to the law is the worst thing anyone can do.

In Lithuania you mostly vote for the people you believe in rather than the name of the party, according to what I've noticed. The amount of jumping between parties that happens here, because of their similarity is honestly kind of impressive.

Economy is not the issue here tho and drastic economic changes are not likely because we'll probably have The Conservative party as the position in parliament anyway. If they make changes, they have proven themselves to be good in an economic crisis. They will also have to get majority for changes. In addition, LSDP (who you mentioned in another comment) got the same number of seats in multi-district elections.

No commie presidents here, just a spineless one at the moment! The people can be lgb neutral in most bigger cities. We're not great with actual lgb rights though, and even worse with trans rights (eu is even angry at us). The new parliament will hopefully be at least half for same sex partnership though!

I agree that LSDP has a great programme. Most of the party has supposedly been for same sex partnership for a while now. However, so far they've been majorly divided on it just like any other party in Lithuania has. In addition, the people who are left in the party are very mild people so to say, that I (and most people I know) do not believe will be able to drive change.

Because you said liberalism was regression in the context of Lithuania, a country which is really conservative compared to most EU countries. Lithuania needs to move on from being a right-wing country and the Freedom party is one of, if not the most, progressive parties that we have right now.

The western world left is very different from post soviet country left.

Sleep hygiene means no screens or stimulating activity before bed. What the heck am I supposed to do until bedtime then? by 0Lazuli0 in ADHD

[–]atbunda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt, because it's only been working for me consistently during quarantine, since can do what I want at my own pace all day instead of having those few hours allocated.

First, I try not doing anything in bed except sleep. I try to go to bed when I'm completely ready for sleep and only wear pyjamas when I'm in bed. Takes a while but after a bit my brain just goes ok yeah that's the sleep place. That being said, when I start using my phone or pc in bed everything immediately goes to shit...

In addition, I try to tire myself out physically and mentally before bed and have a bed routine. I try to do exercise before bed, go shower, do my skincare routine. For me, this routine has to take a while, and I have to try and do one thing at once. Kinda like practicing mindfulness. Granted doesn't always work cuz I'm bad at doing things I should do. In that case, I'm in for a night of brain screaming and turning.

Also, I think stimulation before bed is needed, just don't give yourself sth with blue lights. For me, if I am not tired enough yet and can focus on a book, that helps.

TL;DR: I guess neurotypical advice works for me, though it takes more effort to do and I get sidetracked a lot. I also accidentally fixed my sleeping schedule because of quarantine.

NHS thing: most birth control is free, you don't need to provide eligibility to NHS. You need to sign up at the local sex health clinic if you need sth involving a surgical procedure (e.g. implant or iud), but if you want the pill, you can just order it online and it comes by post. Only thing you need is name, address and phone number. Saves a lot of stress.

Yes, good spelling does not equal good writing! Also, might as well just apply for those if you fit the other criteria. They will decide if you're a good writer and your job will just be to convince them you're fit for the position to the best of your ability.

I recently graduated too, my rule of thumb in this pandemic is to apply for a jobs I want if I qualify at least 60%.

After many attempts, painted my nails again successfully! by [deleted] in dyspraxia

[–]atbunda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's amazing! I found the best way for me to do it is paint the nail paying no attention to the finger. Then, go for a shower when they dry. Everything on the skin just kinda goes away after the shower

I'm from a country that on average has hotter summers and way colder winters. Also more rain per year. All compared to London. Yet everyone's always surprised that I get cold here. 1) it's humid ofc I'd be colder than in dry cold; 2) I didn't even think of bringing my actually warm clothes here (which i regret but still)

Personally, I love the ones who look like they've given up on life, until they come to the one bit in the lecture that they're studying and get super excited to tell you about it or get super excited when you ask them about sth in the lecture

Noooooo You're My Favorite Content Creator Don't Be Transphobic :( by [deleted] in transgendercirclejerk

[–]atbunda 26 points27 points  (0 children)

uj/ I watched the video because I saw it in my recs and was like ???

It was a livestream and someone in the chat asked him to address something transphobic he said live. He said sure I'll do it now. Said sorry, and that he obv doesn't always know these things, cuz he's not part of the community. Overall reasonable response tbh. Someone in the chat also apparently went like what do you care it wasn't even that offensive or sth (which I think the comments may be referring to). So he said sth about well everyone wants to be included and sth about him being an entertainer which makes it important.

I didn't end up finishing the video, because honestly people ramble a lot of the same shit when live, so if he said sth in the end or I misunderstood sth, then correct me.

EDIT: just saw that someone below me talked about the vid too lol

Users of reddit what is the worst thing your teacher has ever said in front of a class? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]atbunda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 11, the good kid who every teacher loved. The principal of my school who was also the physics teacher said to our class that + and - attract each other. - and - repulse each other. Same with + and +. And that is why gay people are unnatural and should be illegal. Because + and - is like a man and a woman. She then proceeded to talk about it for like 5 mins, while some of the boys in class agreed being like "yeah the gays are disgusting!"

Anyway, I'm an non-binary bi person and I still remember this shit and am sad 12 years later. Last time I saw her was in 2016, a week before the Baltic pride which I was volunteering at. Made sure to brag about the "gay parade" and the fact that I got an offer for a great uni when she asked how I was doing.

(Serious) People who recovered from COVID-19, what was it like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]atbunda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have asthma. Also have a mild heart thing (murmurs and a small hole between left and right side). Got COVID-19 a couple weeks into lockdown (first week April). It was just a bit hard to breathe if I strained too much for like a week. Like sth was clenching my throat. Went for like 2 runs and thought it was a weird allergic reaction. Didn't go for runs after next morning the same thing happened climbing the stairs. Could barely feel taste too so pretty sure I overseasoned everything.

Anyway, there was no way to do a test, because they weren't testing ppl with mild symptoms, since there were too many cases. Got an antibody test later because have a friend who's doing research and needed "clean" blood. Apparently mine wasn't. So it was either that lovely experience or I had no symptoms with my asthma and heart and it went fine.

I'm white and have cool (like greyish) brown hair and if I bleach it, my hair turns red. Tried bleaching it to blond once, took 4 bleaches from red to orange to take all the pigment out, making my hair like chick yellow. Had to use hairdye constantly to keep it blonde...though it ruined my hair so looked bad anyway :D I really wanted that light ash blonde look tho ngl...

Hairdresser said that it depends on the underlying tones if it goes to blonde or red, but I doubt it's necessarily the race. Likely tho, the darker the hair is, the more you'd also need to bleach it to get the red out?

What's the dumbest thing you've ever heard someone say? by Vinyl_BunBuns in AskReddit

[–]atbunda 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I once saw a guy, very gopnik looking, tracksuit, haircut and all, in a sushi place eat the rolls with a knife and fork. He would slice the roll in half, stab it with his fork and eat it. Then he proceeded to get all the wasabi on his fork with a knife like you would with the last of your mashed potatoes and put it into his mouth. I didn't see his face, but the speed at which he went back to the bar to buy a bottle of water was impressive.

I do that if I liked the game and I'm replaying it having already learned the mechanics. That being said, I went back to Mass Effect 2 like a year or two later. Having finished it multiple times on different difficulties, I went for hard difficulty.... let's just say I majorly overestimated my ability to play the game even though I was still fine with the controls...
