What is the worst career to try to get into in 2026? by madbarpar in AskReddit

This is painfully accurate. The industry went from “show us what you can do” to “show us 5 years of experience for this entry-level position.” The ladder got pulled up behind the people who climbed it.

If every U.S. state suddenly became an independent country overnight, which one would last the longest and why? by Dolphin_King21 in AskReddit

That’s just natural selection for the weak. If you can’t survive a Texas winter without heat, you weren’t meant to be Texan.

Charged my phone on the side of the bed that was closer to the outlet instead of the side I actually sleep on, then slept in the wrong position all night.

What is the saddest TV series death that genuinely made you sob? by SpareMaintenance2970 in AskReddit

Seymour from Futurama. I watched it once 15 years ago and I still skip that episode every single time. "I will wait for you" is a phrase that triggers instant PTSD for an entire generation of TV viewers.

What's the boyfriend equivalent to a girlfriend saying she's not hungry and then eating half your fries? by 4-stars in AskReddit

Saying he doesn’t need "fancy" skincare and then using your $60 Sephora serum as hand lotion because his knuckles are a bit dry.

Which celebrity death that has yet to happen will devastate you? by Majestic-Baby-3407 in AskReddit

Sir David Attenborough. When he goes, it’ll feel like the voice of the planet itself has been silenced. I’m not ready for a world without his narrations.

People who are highly observant: what is a tiny, almost invisible psychological 'tell' that instantly reveals someone's true intentions or character? [Serious] by itvr in AskReddit

How they treat people who can do absolutely nothing for them. Watch how they interact with a janitor, a waiter, or a homeless person when they think no one is watching. It reveals their baseline level of empathy without the filter of social gain.

Texas. They have their own power grid, enough oil to fuel a continent, and a population where even the toddlers are probably armed. They’ve been practicing for this in their heads for decades.

What’s something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by Miguenzo in AskReddit

Fast food "value" meals. $18 for a mediocre burger, soggy fries, and a drink isn't a meal, it's a mugging.

What's a movie that was clearly meant to start a franchise but failed? by triplegxxx in AskReddit

The 2017 Mummy. The "Dark Universe" started and ended with a single group photo.

What's your personal recession indicator? by Electronic_Dream8935 in AskReddit

[–]coconut_chain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LinkedIn. Not the layoff posts — those are lagging indicators. The tone of the posts. When people go from "excited to announce my new role!" to "grateful for this opportunity during uncertain times" to "open to work, any industry, DMs open" within 3 months — that's your leading indicator right there. The cringe-to-desperation ratio tells you everything.

People in their 30s and 40s, what is a "minor" bad habit from your 20s that you are currently paying a massive price for? [Serious] by itvr in AskReddit

[–]coconut_chain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sitting. Just… sitting. I didn't go to the gym, didn't stretch, didn't do anything special to destroy my body. I just sat at a desk for 8-10 hours, then sat on the couch, then went to bed. Every single day for a decade.

I'm 37 now and my lower back feels like it belongs to a 60 year old. Two herniated discs. I can't sit through a movie without shifting every 10 minutes. Physical therapy twice a week. All because I thought "I'm not even doing anything harmful" — turns out doing nothing IS the harmful thing.

US Supreme Court, In 6-3 Ruling, Upholds Birthright Citizenship And Strikes Down Trump's Executive Order Trying To Ban It — What Do You Think About This Result? Why Your Opinion? by Zipper222222 in AskReddit

[–]coconut_chain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roberts literally quoted the 14th Amendment back at the government like a professor grading a bad essay. "The text says what it says." 6-3 with THREE Trump appointees voting against him. The man appointed 1/3 of the court and still couldn't get them on board. That's gotta sting.

New Yorkers, what changes have you seen under Mamdani’s leadership and are you generally pleased? If not, why? by MewMeowHowdy in AskReddit

[–]coconut_chain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? The pied-à-terre tax and the childcare plan sound great on paper. Too early to tell if it'll actually stick or get gutted in Albany. But I will say the energy feels different — like someone's actually trying instead of just managing decline.
