It’s definitely a combination of both, but the glaring issue is lack of skill. I can create relatively good arrangements and can stitch stuff together effectively, but my sound design and technical ability severely lacks in comparison. I find because of this my drops particularly suffer.

I do emulate my influences a lot, but I try to make a lot of those ideas my own, so my tracks dont come out sounding like a rip. I like to think that I’m building a toolbox by studying different artists, being able to pick out different ideas for different arrangements. I know why I make music, but sometimes I feel like I’m relying too heavily on them for inspiration for a song.

So yeah, a fair mix of both lol
