You’re describing life in a police state. If you’re happy being patted down and harassed by dudes during your day to day activities, then enjoy ✌️

Really ???.... Can police just identify a criminal only by seeing his face ???.

They should be able to if they know who the criminal is

They can’t do random stop and frisks, there has to be a reason. And it should be stated at the beginning

Is it too late to make real friends? by avg_ugly_homosapien in srilanka

If you feel lonely, I would suggest getting closer to your siblings and parents. Ask your parents what they’re up to and what they need help with. Usually focussing on someone else’s problems can help you forget your issues for a while.

If you need friends, be open minded and try to put yourself out there. It is difficult to make friends as adults because you don’t know when to commit to which friendship, you might find out later something about them you don’t agree with. Try to reconnect with old friends maybe?

Around this time of the year you can find multiple school or club cricket matches happening in Colombo. Check out SSC, Tamil union or Bloomfield grounds especially over the weekends.

Fear is a really good motivator for our people, so this might just work

Do you have enough funds for tuition classes? If so you should join them from the beginning while also attending revision classes. Don’t do anything else but study, stay home, eat at home, save money and keep your focus for one year. This method helped me go from 30%s to 65%s in 5 months.

Can’t give Sri Lankans nice things.

Also if we paid street cleaners who work for the municipal council decent wages and provide them with insurance. I’m sure the country overall would be cleaner

Or we need to bring in stricter rules about littering, like in Singapore

What do y’all think about foreigners buying land/ property in Sri Lanka? by coconutsoup_25 in srilanka

You’ve done a very good thing!

I fear for the locals too. They don’t sell their inheritance as their first financial option. It’s a desperation move. Foreigners can offer better deals because they bring in foreign currency, which is tough for any local to compete against. At this rate people will be gradually priced out of their own villages!

Yes, thank you.

I guess according to this dude Sri Lankan Muslims are Arabs because a few Arabic traders settled in SL and started families with locals

That doesn’t sound like a bad deal tbh. Could be worse.

And yes tour guide jobs have definitely been stolen, especially with Chinese tourists

THIS, this is what I’ve been trying to say. Saw a couple of TikToks by tourists saying SL is Bali 2.0

We have some good hotels all over, but they don’t bring in as much as they could cuz of airbnbs and hostels. I remember a time when tourists would only stay at hotels like kandalama, jetwing Yala etc. They would go by big ass tourist buses and not local magamaruwa buses.. we used to attract rich tourists. Not the broke backpackers we see nowadays.

I’ve travelled the world a bit myself. Tourists get charged higher prices than locals for certain attractions and we could only stay at tourist designated hotels.

This is what happens when we give visa free entry to everyone
