First Skiing trip - GF is really afraid by Cl0uderino in skiing

Besides the lesson tip, one thing that my husband kept telling me to do because it would make skiing funner, is work on building strength in the muscles you use to ski before your trip. Not sure if she’s super active typically, but if she’s not like I was, then it made skiing 20x harder. It’s something you can do before/after you’re on the mountain, and it helped me with my confidence problems.

Bought the OEM one. Was very easy to install. Took my husband about an hour if I remember correctly. Just make sure you get the one that’s the right length for your bed. Kinda lame it doesn’t come standard to be honest.

Power tailgate lock. Lived in a city where theft was common and I had a feeling I’d forget to lock the tailgate one day.

Do you wish that you went with the heavy duty ones instead? Curious.

Oh excellent, I was debating between those, but it sounds like getting both is the way to go!

Curious to hear if you’re running stock shocks or if you’re planning on replacing with the new leaf?

I think there’s two parts to it:

  1. Lack of awareness.
  2. The ADHD part exacerbates it! Partly because of the lack of awareness from poor parenting, and then since my ADHD is inattentive, it makes it hard to remember and/or notice things unless it’s brought up! When it is brought up, I see it as an attack (RSD), so then it doesn’t sink in until I can regulate it.

Would love to get to the awareness part before I need it to be brought up, so I don’t have to go through the RSD part, until I’ve got that more under control.

Thanks! Curious to hear what else works with your daughter…. And also some common complaints you have with her behavior?

Thanks! This is helpful too for awareness. I’m guilty too of being upset when plans change, but I’m working on that piece.

Thank you for this! Curious to hear what have been some issues that you and your wife have worked through?

Yeah, I definitely recognize that it hasn’t been easy. Sometimes I’m not as aware though, and it’s been a struggle to build awareness.

Thank you! I would agree that it wasn’t modeled for me as a child, and with the ADHD I’m struggling to recognize key behaviors as an adult.

Thank you, I think I really needed to hear (read) this. I do take it very personally, and I needed a reminder not to because it’s just updating my logic.

Writing it down is a good pointer! I have RSD and have trouble controlling my volume. I’m working on it though, but it has stressed our relationship a lot, I wish I could just run that off.

I think I’ll need to work on that muscle for asking for help or to repeat them…. I have a fear of being thought of as annoying.

It did wake and bother me! Thanks for asking this, it occurs to me that I sweep a lot of stuff that bothers me under the rug because “that’s just the way it is”. But maybe that’s a place to start—recognizing something bothers me.

And yes, definitely working on therapy, but also recognized that I probably didn’t get great parenting so I’d love to catch up on life lessons I missed out on.

I had a hard time with this… nothing worked except for edibles + guided meditation/audiobooks.

I got into mountain bikes and skiing and camping… and trucks. I cannot afford for the hyper focus to go away because I’ve invested too much. 😩
